What are some suggestions for a gift for my wife for Christmas?

I like to do my shopping early for Christmas and look for bargains.

Wifey would probably appreciate a thoughtful gift. As I don't know her tastes, that's a little difficult. Does she collect anything? Or have a hobby?  Perfume is nice, a little extravagance. A handwritten, personal letter can be beautiful. Pop it in with the perfume. A locket with a sentimental photo would be cool. A framed photograph of somewere special to her. Just something to make her feel understood. You can do it!

Money isn't an object in that she would prefer it to be special rather than expensive.  Thanks for your answer.

though it isn't a cheap gift , a day at a spa will most likely be a gift she will love. even a half day will be appreciated by her.

This would be so easy to answer if I knew your wife...but I'll share what I can....as a female & wife.   Women are usually very thrilled when she can see that some "special thought process" went into the gift......regardless of the price.   For instance....if you know of something she has admired or mentioned she would love to have....that's a no-brainer.....get it for her.   However, I'm just wondering....if you feel it's time for a relaxing get-away......you could plan it and wrap the brochures and/or tickets.....and put them in a big beautiful gift basket with personal items that you know she would take on a trip.....especially a pretty nightgown or plush robe....
and don't forget to add a gift card to her favorite store.
Just one more thing, banks......if your wife doesn't like your gift....I'll send you my address.w/ S&H..............GOOD luck, you romantic devil, you!!

Thanks.  Right now I am thinking about a t-shirt quilt made with all of the t-shirts from the son we lost a few years ago.  I just don't know how to quilt.

I am so very sorry to hear of your tragic loss...sincerely, with all of my heart.  Your idea would be precious and priceless.  Surely, there is someone in your area that knows quilting.  I hope you find one.  Peace.

Wow! The t-shirt quilt sounds incredibly thoughtful! Any mother would love to be able to wrap up in their child's old t-shirts!! I'm sure that you could find someone who would love to help you with such a project. Blessings!

Look for a local quilter or perhaps a quilter on Etsy.com would be willing to work with the materials you send them.

Thanks StandingJaguar, I have never used Etsy.com, but it is an interesting suggestion.

Most etsy artists are used to doing custom jobs. In fact, I simply searched "quilts" in Etsy just now and one of the first results was "custom t-shirt quilts" using your own t-shirts... ta-da! Your idea can definitely become a reality.

I actually wrote a hub about this last year about buying your loved one an experience, and some of my suggestions are; a spa day, tickets to a play/game (which I didn't think of at the time), parasailing, parachuting, rock climbing, (for the dare devils, a romatic getaway (which just came to mind). If she has a hobby - something to go with that.....good luck!

You should know that better than us > what has she been hinting at? lol...good luck smile

That is the problem, she rarely hints.  She isn't into jewelry, clothes, hand bags, or spas.  She has an iPhone, an iPad and a computer.  She has a dog and a sewing machine.   That leaves a t-shirt quilt, vaccum cleaner, or target pistol;-)

I think a massage and pedicure gift voucher, gift basket with all her favorite things-you could add a piece to the bundle weekly at the end she'll have a huge basket of goodies:), a weekend away, clothes gift voucher or dinner at a restaurant. I hope these idea's help, good luck!

Reading through your comments on other people's answers, she actually sounds a lot like me. I suggest skipping perfume/make-up/spas and go for something handy and useful. She sounds like she loves technology - does she have a Kindle? Would she like a present revolving around her dog? You could always do one large present and lots of little ones on top - accessories for her sewing machine/special thread etc. I'm very sorry to hear about your son - but I think a present around his memory is a very special, loving thought smile could you do a scrapbook revolving around his life? Or maybe buy a scrapbooking set for her and try making it together? From my own point of view - give the vacuum cleaner a wide berth! Good luck with the search - I'm sure she will absolutely adore whatever you choose big_smile

I think it is always good to ask my spouse what he wants then go get the item he asked for.  Sounds simple but he usually says he doesn't care or doesn't want anything.  If I pay attention long enough, an answer usually presents itself.

Even if you don't quilt, you could take digital pictures of those t-shirts and do a photobook of them on Shutterfly.  My family has fallen in love with Shutterfly books for everything from Mother's Day to Weddings to special travels.

    Good luck!

I am so sorry to hear about your son. I think it's a wonderful idea to have the quilt made, that is so special! Also, it's nice to have a framed collage of your wife and son together. If there is a picture of her pregnant with your son, you can have pictures of the two of them surrounding that of them through the years. Good luck to you, and I know that whatever you think of, she will adore!
