Do you believe that everyone has a soul mate?

Does everyone have that one person that they are destined to be with? Or are we all compatible enough that we can be soul mates with whomever we choose?

No! I don't believe in having (a) soul mate as in only one person could fulfill my desires. In a world with 7 Billion people odds are there are a lot more than one person who would "get you", share your same values, want the same things for a relationship/marriage, and agree with you on how to obtain those things.
We decrease or increase our odds of finding love by the way we (include) or (exclude) others. If I say "the one" must be of my own race I could be eliminating 6 billion people sight unseen! If I say "the one" must share my same faith, currently live in my country, state, or town I could go from 7 billion options to 20,000 and this is all (before) we get to such things as height, weight, hobbies/interests. occupation, sexual compatibility, and personality!
Last but not least we say "the one" must be liked or loved by our family/friends and vice versa. When a person gets through (excluding) people is it any wonder why they find it so difficult to find someone? Awhile back I wrote a hub on this subject. … venbillion

I believe in soul mates but I do not believe in 'the one'.  I believe in a rare connection that lasts a lifetime but I don't believe that there is only one person on the planet that you can have that with.  It is rare... but not so rare that you would only have one shot at it.  I think it is more of a human thing.  While people are in a good relationship they say they are soul mates for life and when things go wrong they say they were blinded by the desire to feel love.  It's my belief that love comes in many different levels and can exist in many different relationships.  Some are greater than others.
Soul mates, an amazing connection, someone that can bring out the best in you, that you never abandon regardless of relationship status... I believe in that.  I don't believe in one person that was made for only you.

Thanks for the awesome answers. I haven't looked at it in a statistical manner so I'm glad that you pointed that out.

It's easy to fall in love (or whatever) with someone -- it's different to get to know all their bizarre habits and still want to stay. Always bugs me in movies when there is a wedding at the end.  Just the beginning of the next story!  (Oh, and by bizarre habits was talking about my self, not my partner).

Although of course I think his habits are stranger than mine.
