From my observation most women prefer men who are taller than they are. Just as some men have a preference for dating fit/slim women there are women who want to date men who are tall.
The general scientific answer is yes, but this doesn't mean that this is always true. There's no one hard and fast rule when it comes to attraction. Most women are attracted to confidence.
Holly that's an excellent point regarding confidence. However for example my wife is 6 ft tall. A guy who is 5' 5" is not likely to appeal to her as mate material no matter how confident he is. Everyone has their preferences!

I'm 6 foot 6 and my wife is 5 foot 2... so in my case, at least, the answer is "yes."
