Las Vegas Weddings are Quick and Easy

If you are considering a Las Vegas wedding, you may be surprised at how easy it is. More people get married in Las Vegas every year than in any other city in the world. The reason for this is because the state of Nevada and the city of Las Vegas make it as simple and easy to get married in this city as possible.

From the moment you arrive in Las Vegas, nearly everyone from the cab drivers to your hotel concierge is equipped to help you make all the necessary arrangements. You can have a quick, simple wedding within hours of your arrival. On the other hand, if you want an elaborate wedding with many guests, a large reception and live entertainment, Las Vegas is well-equipped to help you plan your dream wedding.

In addition, with a little planning, a Las Vegas wedding can also be very affordable. In some cases, it can be less than the cost of getting married in your hometown, especially since you will not have to invite all your co-workers and casual acquaintances. In addition, most of your guests will pay for their own expenses and, in many cases, love doing it!

Choose a Las Vegas Wedding Chapel

I have attended a number of fun weddings at several Las Vegas wedding chapels, including the famous Little White Wedding Chapel, Graceland Wedding Chapel and the Mandalay Bay Hotel chapels.

Each chapel has its own personality and history, and there are a number of choices available. You may want to consider one of my personal favorites. Each one has its own personality. For example, the Little White Wedding Chapel has a drive through Tunnel of Love, indoor chapels and an outdoor gazebo. Graceland is the perfect place to arrange for an Elvis impersonator to perform your ceremony, although you can have a traditional minister or justice of the peace, too. The Mandalay Bay chapels are elegant and upscale with your choice of views from the large windows at the front of the chapels. One of our daughters was married at the Mandalay Bay, and we loved the experience. Other chapels in Las Vegas have unique opportunities, too.

You can call in advance to make arrangements for your wedding. However, if you are impulsive, you can usually call most of the chapels the same day as your wedding and they can often fit you in. The concierge at your hotel can provide you with a list of their phone numbers. When my sister got married in Vegas, she called the Little White Chapel in the morning and arranged for a wedding that afternoon ... and this was on a busy convention weekend!

This Helpful Book Will Make It Easy to Plan Your Las Vegas Wedding

Your Guide to a Fabulous Las Vegas Wedding (Weddings Book 2)
Your Guide to a Fabulous Las Vegas Wedding (Weddings Book 2)

You will love this little book which explains the Las Vegas wedding laws, describes some of the more popular wedding chapels in Las Vegas, and gives you contact information for the wedding bureau, the chapels, independent photographers and florists, and how to make various arrangements. You will discover it is an invaluable resource for anyone getting married in Las Vegas.

Start Your Day by Getting Your Las Vegas Marriage License

The first step necessary to get married in Las Vegas is to pick up your wedding license. This is much easier in Las Vegas than in most other cities. Any cab or limo driver will be able to take you to the marriage bureau, which is open from early morning until late at night. You will need a picture ID, such as a drivers license or passport, and cash to pay for the license. Currently the cost is about $60, but fees do go up from time to time so you may want to have a little extra cash with you. Do not plan to use a credit card as the marriage bureau does not currently accept them.

Once you have your license, you are free to go to any of the dozens of wedding chapels that are available in Las Vegas. Many of them are open 24 hours a day.

Most of the chapels are equipped to provide you with the items you will want for your wedding, such as your floral bouquet or a simple photo album. However, you may want to order a few things to bring with you to save your the time and money you would spend purchasing them in Las Vegas. In addition, you can take your time and buy exactly what you want if you order these items in advance.

For example, you may want to order your own wedding invitations, thank you notes, champagne glasses, wedding album, cake cutters, faux flowers, confetti and similar items in advance and take them with you to Las Vegas. All of these are items that can easily be purchased at a local stationary store or ordered from Amazon and you won't have to worry about finding them during your wedding weekend.

Romantic Budget Wedding Ideas: Where to Find Cheap Wedding Dresses, Reception Venues and More (Weddings Book 1)

This Amazon book gives you the resources to help your find affordable wedding dresses, suggestions for cheap places to get married in your own community, and guidelines for setting up a wedding budget so you have an affordable, fun wedding. After having four daughters get married, I find the information in this book to be very helpful to young brides, with the info they need BEFORE they head to Las Vegas.

Rent a Wedding Dress in Las Vegas or Bring One With You

Many Las Vegas chapels will rent you a wedding dress and rent the groom a tuxedo. However, most brides will want to bring their own dress with them. If so, you can purchase your dress in your favorite bridal salon, such as at David's Bridal, or you can find dresses online through Amazon.com, including choices from David's Bridal. Shown below are some examples of white dresses and wedding accessories that are available. If you click on the dresses shown below, you can learn if these styles are available in other colors, as well as additional information about each one.

Later in this article you will also see some ideas for other items you may want to bring with you for your Vegas wedding. If you bring your own dress to Las Vegas, particularly a long, elaborate gown, many hotels and dry cleaners can arrange to steam the wrinkles out of the dress for you if you allow them a day or two to get it done.

If you are interested in learning more about any of the Amazon dresses or other items featured in this article, simply click on the blue product name and you will be taken directly to its Amazon home page where you can read all the details, including reviews.

Buy Flowers in Las Vegas or Bring Your Own

You can get fresh flowers in Las Vegas or order a bouquet on line from someplace like Amazon, which has plenty of choices to help you with your bridal bouquet.

The city of Las Vegas also has a number of florists that can help you with a live flower arrangement. In addition, the chapel you choose may be able to either loan or sell you an attractive silk arrangement.

The Kindle book mentioned above, "Your Guide to a Fabulous Las Vegas Wedding" contains the names and contact information for several Las Vegas florists, as well as the chapels, so you can call ahead and make arrangements for your flowers, chapel, etc.

On the other hand, silk flower arrangements, are becoming increasingly popular with brides. Order one in advance and bring it with you so you will know exactly what your bridal bouquet will look like.

Las Vegas is quite a romantic setting especially later at nights, you can have a nice stroll in front of the bellagio water fountains. Plus there are so many grand ballrooms to have a wedding. Love the wedding dresses you showed. Wonderful idea and wonderful lens!

@KateAdamsUSA: I have been to four weddings in Las Vegas, and had a great time at every one of them. When one of our daughters got married in Las Vegas, it was the easiest wedding of all our daughters. The wedding chapel took care of everything for us. So simple to arrange, too!

I got married in Vegas, but of course, I grew up there and met my husband there. There are some excellent wedding spots besides the well-known chapels. My sister was married at a beautiful outdoor venue. My brother was married in an outdoor garden area at a major hotel. The garden concept is really neat! Many possibilities!

@sagebrushmama: You are absolutely right that there are many other spots to get married in Las Vegas in addition to the well known chapels. It is an absolutely delightful place for a wedding, with plenty of choices, including traditional church weddings. Thanks for sharing your personal knowledge of Las Vegas weddings!

Since Las Vegas is away from home for most, be sure to get several certified copies of the marriage certificate. You will need them.

@ManfromModesto LM: That is an excellent idea. Whenever anyone has a destination wedding, it is good to get several copies of your marriage certificate. Great advice.

Very cool idea. In fact, friends of mine are getting married in Vegas some time this spring. Basically, they'll sort of figure out a date at the last minute then message or e-mail everyone and we'll all meet in Vegas for a wedding and a party.
