My Tent Wedding
The Beginnings of an Amazing Marriage
It was the spring of 1987 in Romania, my home country, and I was in love. After only a couple of months of dating, my now husband asked me to marry him. And strangely enough, I said yes. It wasn't what you'd call love at first sight, but it is definitely a love that's been growing for more than 23 years.
We were both raised as Seventh Day Adventists. Traditionally, the church performs weddings in either the groom's or bride's home church. But there was a problem: a big one. The church he was attending was destroyed by the communists in an attempt to build a conglomerate of buildings, and my church was too small for all the people we wanted to invite. His church members were gathering in a tent, and even though it wasn't the most glamorous, we didn't let that deter us from having a great wedding.
Every girl dreams of a beautiful wedding. It's the day she'll remember for the rest of her life. And our wedding was nothing short of perfect, and definitely something to remember. How many people can say they were married in a tent?
Wedding Tent Decorations
How we decorated our church wedding tent
There wasn't a lot we could do to decorate the tent, but what my husband did was beautiful and unforgettable.
He used to live on an experimental farm, and since our wedding was in the beginning of June, roses were blooming!
So, the night before the wedding, he went with a friend and picked about 300 roses (after asking for permission, of course): he picked white roses for my bouquet, and multicolored ones for the decorations.
Here is a picture the front of the tent with all the roses in vases, and the chairs decorated with red and white carnations.
Wedding Decorations on a Budget - Your wedding doesn't have to cost a lot
If you like to do your own decorations, here are a few ideas to get you started.
My Simple Wedding Bouquet
I dind't need an expensive bouquet
My husband's gesture of picking the roses for my bouquet himself, meant more to me than if I had the most expensive or exquisite wedding bouquet.
And in the end, my bouquet was very beautiful anyway! It was all white roses and fern, with some tulle around everything to hold it together.
Simple, beautiful, and elegant, if you ask me.
