Trophy Wife

Is trophy wife in the same category as gold-digger?

Anne Kingston wrote a book,The Meaning of Wife, stating "It's not simply the decoration that a truly accomplished man wants."

It's 2013 and there are still women desiring to be a trophy wife. It would appear certain regions celebrate this "tradition" and groom their children to depend on the kindness (money) of others.

A trophy is defined as a prize, such as a cup or plaque, a symbol of victory according to wikipedia. My definition: a lazy women attempting to alight herself (by marriage) to someone who can financially support and sponsor her delusions of grandeur.

The definition of prostitute according to webster dictionary: 1 : to offer indiscriminately for sexual intercourse especially for money 2 : to devote to corrupt or unworthy purposes.

If you don't believe women seek this life then watch any reality t.v. episode and you will see everything from women chasing rappers/actors to secure payment by having children to women who have "high standards" on minimum wage. If you think I'm not telling the truth then watch Bravo TV's episode 1 of The New Atlanta. There is an episode wherein Alex explains her desire to be a trophy wife which includes "dropping to her knees" when her husband enters the door. I know, classy dinner conversation right? Alex even shared information regarding how to become a trophy wife. Perhaps this is her modern take on The Good Wife's Guide published in May of 1955 in Housekeeping Monthly.

I can't believe there is such a large gold-digger/prostitute yourself/trophy wife movement at a time when women are achieving more than they ever had. These women, who have achieved, are still great wives and mothers in addition to living their purpose and utilizing their talent.

Anyhow

Let's forget about the women's suffrage movement.

Let's forget about the fight for equal wages for equal jobs.

Let's forget the accomplishments of such glass ceiling breakers like Hilary Clinton!

If the point of marrying a trophy wife is to show off your "catch" when what happens when the "catch" gets older? What happens when the catch develops stretch marks from children or her body isn't as firm as it was 10 years ago? Will there ever be enough cutting edge cosmetic procedures, silicone, fitness crazes, or facial tightening creams to keep you looking young forever? Is the trophy wife doomed to become a botox, liposuction, and cosmetic surgery distorted carnival exhibit? Can a man live a lifetime with the empty conversation focused on: shoes/clothing, comments on other peoples attire/hair/clothing (catty conversation), or constantly discussing the measurement of others outward status?

Obviously in a trophy wife's desires: development of character, teaching self sufficiency to your children, and intelligence appears to be irrelevant. Certainly one must realize that if the eye is the driving force for your union, then as time goes on the eye will roam elsewhere. If your only attribute is eye candy, what will your husband do when you attend a dinner party and someone asks you a question of relevance or asks you to contribute to the conversation by providing an intelligent opinion? Will your children be attractive but have a low intelligence level (like their mother) and struggle with childhood achievement?

Why would a mother celebrate teaching her child to live off of someone else? To put power 100% into someone else who can put you in a mansion, dispose of you, and you have no way to be self sufficient is crazy!

In short; rock on all you wonderful women who want to be more than a stupid girl!

Trophy wife. A full time/permanent job application for the gold-digger prostitute.
