How to Save Money on a Wedding

There are so many ways that you can save money on a wedding and still have the wedding of your dreams. Here are 18 tips on how to save money on a wedding. Also included is a way for you to EARN money to go towards your wedding.

1. Save money buy planning a wedding budget...and sticking to it.

2. Eloping can save you a lot of money.

3. Trim the wedding guest list...then take off an additional 5-10 people. If you are having a sit down dinner, taking an additional 5-10 people off your guest list could save you hundreds of dollars.

4. Have a buffet style meal instead of a sit down meal. Sit down meals cost a lot more than a buffet style meal. Having your wedding in the afternoon with a lunch style brunch can also be cheaper.

5. Save on wedding costs by having the wedding on a weekday or on a Saturday. Sunday is the busiest and costliest day to have a wedding.

6. Consider having a fun redneck theme wedding. Everything at a redneck party/wedding is cheap.

7. Save on wedding costs by having the wedding at a low cost location, like a friend's backyard, a park or at a local lake or beach.

8. Save hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars on flowers by having your wedding at a garden location. You can also use balloons and/or scented candles instead of flowers.

9. Hire a friend to take your wedding photos or check your local college for photography students looking for work. This would eliminate the cost of a professional photographer, thus saving thousands of dollars.

10. Save by doing a lot of the details yourself. Make the wedding veil, ring pillow, party favors, and other things like table centerpieces and food. Have your families chip in to help prepare the food.

11. Price shop. Craigslist and eBay have great deals on wedding, and bride and groom items.

12. Printing the invitations yourself instead of purchasing them from a professional printer could save a few hundred dollars.

13. Negotiate. Many venders are willing to negotiate prices, especially if they think you will take your business elsewhere.

14. Consider purchasing a used wedding dress. Most wedding dresses are only used once and are in pretty good condition. If you don't want a used one, purchase one at a wedding dress discount center.

15. If you're wearing an off white or colored wedding dress, shop in the bridesmaids section or at a department store. Bridesmaid dresses cost a lot less than bridal dresses. You can find some elegant dresses on sale a department stores right after high school prom season too.

16. Save money on your wedding cake by eliminating the expensive tiered wedding cake and opting for fancy wedding cupcakes instead.

17. Save by not overspending on a honeymoon. Check with friends and family to see if anyone owns a vacation rental or has frequent flyer miles that you can use. Search the Internet for travel discounts or post pone your honeymoon until off season when the travel and rental rates are cheaper.

18. Save money by having a friend preform your wedding ceremony. Practically anyone can get ordained over the internet simply by filing out some forms and paying a small fee.
