American Crusaders: The Rise of Christian Nationalism in Post 9/11 America: A Review
Is The Dominion Theory Biblical?
Tonight as i was browsing through the movie list on Hulu, I came across a movie, or it was more like a documentary, called "American Crusaders: The Rise of Chrsitian Nationalism in Post 9/11 America". I decided to check it out, see what it had to say. Needless to say, I was stunned, and not in a good way, either. I was shocked at what is being taught in churches and taught as GODs absolute Truth. I mean, I knew already that falsehoods were being taught in churches, I just didn't realize to what extent it was. To say the least, this movie opened my eyes, although maybe not in the way it was intended. It shows many of the popular preachers and you listen in on portions of their preaching, the things they teach their followers. You also get to hear from the non-believers side of the coin.
One of the prevalent theories I heard in this video was the "Dominion Theory". The belief that Christians would and should hold total dominion over all the world. This means Christian military, Christians in government, Christians basically in every aspect of our world. What disturbs me is that the Holy Bible says that GOD gave "MAN" dominion over the earth. HE did this when HE created man, "Genesis 1:26And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.". Those who hold to the Dominion Theory believe that man lost this dominion but the Christians regained it through Christ. I don't remember reading that. The above quote states man was given dominion over the earth and the animals...not over each other.
The problem I see here, besides this theory not being biblical, is that even if it were, the majority of Christians out there aren't true, biblical Christians, therefore it would not apply to them. What do I mean by the statement that the majority are not true, biblical Christians? A true biblical Christian is one who lives in obedience to GOD. Starting with the ten commandments. I have heard excuses such as "we were never meant to obey the ten commandments, they were just meant as a guide", "God knows we aren't perfect, HE understands", and others like these.
I am here to tell you that GOD does nothing without purpose. HE isn't one to waste HIS time creating laws HE doesn't expect man to obey. Look at what happened in the wilderness with the Israelites. GOD gave them the ten commandments, and taught them how to keep HIS Sabbath. They were punished each time they were disobedient or rebellious. SO what makes people think they are not meant to be kept? Oh, yes, CHRIST did away with them. And yet I remember CHRIST said not one jot or tittle of the law would be done away with until all was fulfilled (HIS final return, the rapture). What CHRIST did do away with was the sacrifices.
My point to this is that as Christians, what we say and what we do reflects back on CHRIST. If we say we love GOD, yet do not obey HIM, the truth is not in us. If we claim to be Christians, yet we lie, cheat, steal, envy, hate...we have taken the name of GOD in vain. That means that GOD is not in us. Just because we call ourselves Christians, doesn't mean we belong to HIM. When I look around and see how so called Christians behave, how they live, how they treat others, I do not see CHRIST in them. Now, I do realize that there are different levels of Christians...those who have just begun the walk all the way up to those who feel they know enough to teach others. But what happens when you believe you are qualified to teach others...and what you are teaching is a falsehood? When this happens, not only do your followers learn this lie, they go on to teach it to others, so that you have many people worshiping GOD wrongly...the end result is that they are not actually worshiping the true GOD, but a self made (man made) image of HIM. That means they are not truly saved...and their blood will be on your head for teaching the lie to begin with.
God never told man to dominate other men, making the worship of HIM be the only way. HE gave man the choice to reject HIM or accept HIM. If GOD gave this choice to man, who are any of us to take that choice from him? We can witness, testify, share what GOD has done in our lives, we can share what we believe to be true about GOD, but we can never insist that they believe as we do.

More About The Dominion Theory
What is dominion theology / theonomy / Christian reconstructionism? Should Christians attempt to restore God's kingdom and the Mosaic Law in the world today?
One Religion To Rule Them All
Is America The Promised Land?
We have all heard the saying "America is the promised land". Christians believe GOD gave this land to them. This land was already inhabited, but that did not mean anything, after all, Christians were like the Israelites, and if GOD gave the land of Canaan to them, then GOD gave America to the Christians. Sadly, the Natives paid for that belief with their lives. Looking back, I honestly can't see any biblical signs that shows GOD gave this land to the Christians. On the contrary, I see untold number of signs showing that HE is not pleased with the people who live in this land today. If this truly was the promised land, GOD would have gone before them, as HE did the Israelties, and destroyed the people of this land for them, Not only did that not happen, the Native peoples of this land are here today stronger than ever.
How To Be A True Christian
Just How can one know if they are a true Christian or not? The answer to that question is found in the Holy Bible. Believe that Christ is the divine Son of the Living GOD and accept HIS gift of salvation. Once you have done this, the next, natural step is to ask CHRIST for the forgiveness of your sins. This is putting off the old man (you, self). Putting on the new man (spirit of CHRIST) is committing yourself to a life of obedience to GOD. What does that mean? It means you read HIS Word daily, asking HIM to teach you HIS truths and to keep you from self wisdom (self understanding). It means living your life as HE teaches us in HIS Word. Proverbs is a great place to learn how we are to treat each other. It even teaches us how to treat the earth and the animals. I have heard many non-believers say they do not need some book to tell them how to act. sadly, their actions prove them wrong. Christians also prove by their actions how little they believe in the true GOD. Showing mercy and compassion to your enemies. Comforting the widow and the orphan, giving aide where ever you can. Forgiveness. Faith. These are all signs of a true Christian. How many times have you seen a Christian look away from a homeless person, afraid they might try to touch them or ask for money? How many Christians do you know that put others happiness before their own?
If you want to be a true Christian, don't make money your GOD, or material possessions become of more importance than obeying GOD. Don't be more concerned with the opinions of other people than you are about the opinion of GOD about you.
