Learning how to become godly
~ Psalm 15 ~ Spiritual Journey From the Beginning To The End Of The Psalm
This is an impressive, expressive, authoritative, commanding, effervescent, illuminating life changing Psalm. It is absolutely AWESOME! David once again candidly and contritely shares his heart. He presents a brilliant question that we all should want to know the answer? Meditating upon this Psalm will definitely acquiesce much “Peace” when you truly yield your heart to its contents. Here David himself teaches us that “He who does these things will never be shaken!” We can boldly yet humbly stand on the promises of God’s Word! However, we must first allow His Holy Spirit His rightful place in our lives.
David was known for his exceptional diversity of skills as a warrior as well as a king who ruled judiciously. He fiercely fought and conquered the land. Israel grew and prospered tremendously under his impressive administration.
David also loved to Praise, Pray and Worship the Lord. His fervent pious writings throughout The Word of God are potent and are spiritually illuminating. He had a close intimate relationship with the Lord and a special place in His heart. It is recorded in His Word; “I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will." Samuel 13. No doubt David had his flaws and weaknesses… This truth in its totality is hard to begin to comprehend unless one surrenders and steps out into the infinite spiritual arena of understanding. Our infinitesimal minds are not able to conceive and digest the depth of David’s mind unless we place ourselves at the feet of the Master. David sincerely penitently confessed to the Lord time after time. He also asked Him questions that are so very beneficial to us today. David had a heart for the Lord.
The Question?
“Who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your Holy Hill?” David is transparent here in his quest to discover what it would be like to actually dwell with the LORD. In this Psalm we will find a plethora of standards by which we can better self examine ourselves that assist us to take a much needed personal inventory It is important to keep in mind just like now there were endless temptations and much spiritual warfare to pull David away from the Lord and what he knew to be right God is concerned about our lifestyles.
God does not tempt us. He is sovereign and He can speak or give a command for any or everything to change in a blink of an eye! It is important to know that darkness often tries to present itself as Light It is important to know that God does not need to manipulate nor does He operate in chorus with darkness. He has no need for trendy modern day attention getting phrases… The world is shrouded in evil and it often cloaks itself in the background and manipulates whoever allows them to be deceived by its surplus of disguises and deceptions to entrap them… We so need HIS Holy Spirit to enlighten us and provide spiritual discernment to know the difference! We who claim to be believers should get our standards and morals from God!
It may not always be clear what is going on. But when you meditate on God’s Word and or fast and pray it is endless the spiritual wisdom and knowledge we can access. It is important to know that there is definite Power in the Blood of Jesus! The Lord does not want us ignorant of His Will and His Way. He does want us to be aware! He has given us a sample prayer. This is why we pray: “Our Father, Who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Your Name! Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread; forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one… Yours is the Kingdom, the Power and the GLORY!”
The Lord wants us to meditate upon HIs Word. He wants us to repent whenever necessary and embrace and live out the principles of His Word. He wants us to spend time with Him in prayer and pray sincerely what is in our hearts. It is a privilege to humble ourselves before God. We can come boldly before Him with our prayers and petitions. God knows before we even utter a sound what is the position of our hearts. We should always be willing to honor Him, give thanks and Bless His Holy Name! Praise God! Praise GOD! & PRAISE GOD!!!
The Psalms are prolific and magnificently imposing. They have the ability to provoke us to think spiritually rather than carnally. They are so much more than mere letters scribed on papyrus or paper. They are Words of Power designed to emit life to our mind, body and soul. God’s Word is; “ALIVE!” It is meant to encourage, chastise, correct, direct and cause us to repent! We all need to consult the Lord for HIS direction in our lives. It is important to not let pride or anyone or anything become the wall that separates you or I from the Lord.
God knew when He created us that the flesh is selfish and it wants its way! We have example after example of what happens when we allow the flesh to have its way over God’s way! God created us for His Glory! We were created in His image! We are body, mind and soul all in one! Just as the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit are One! Our body, mind and soul needs to be daily refreshed and energized by His Holy Spirit until the Lord calls us home. It is from him both believers and non believers are given the GIFT of the breath of life!
Jesus Christ lived a sinless life in the flesh as the only flawlessly perfect example! He did this for us all. He has redeemed us with His life. We can call upon Him 24/7 to deliver us from evil... To unveil our spiritual eyes and enhance our spiritual insight so we can better navigate through this worldly maze of life. “His Word is a Lamp unto our feet and a Light unto our path!” He is able to properly direct us. We in turn must be willing to follow. He lovingly allows us to choose! Within the Presence of the Lord it matters not when the odds are against us! When we humbly position ourselves He is able to give us the confidence we need in Him to prevail! With Him it is important to know that we are daily fighting a “Winning Battle!” But is not won with carnal minds are weaponry! “God will fight your battles!”
God is the only Most High God and calls us to be or become morally upright. He does not tolerate sin regardless of age or your position or societal status in life. King David being one of the most powerful influential men in the world remains a great example. Absolutely no one is above the need for the Lord! Whenever David faltered it was because he did not follow the Lord’s will and way…
Jesus Christ became the Holy Sacrificial Lamb to save us from the power of sin reigning in our lives. Wherever you are God knows! Whatever has happened cannot be undone but you can always go forward walking in the Light of His Word! Our standards were never meant to come from society nor the world! We have His WORD! “Do your BEST to present yourself to GOD a workman who does not to be ashamed and who correctly handles the Word of TRUTH!” II Timothy 2. Know His Word for yourself! Timothy further says then there is: “No need to be ashamed….”
Only for a season is satan able to dominate the earth and reap havoc in all of our lives. We will discover later that the Book of Hebrews also confirms this PSALM! Here in these Psalms we can better understand what our position should be or become! Everything, everyone and every power or principality is ultimately under the Lord’s power! We must pursue the Peace of the Lord and seek refuge in Him! When we seek the Lord above all else we have nothing to fear but fear itself… But as believers through the power of His Holy Spirit we can live blameless lives when we are walking in the Spirit!
We should never use the laxity of the world to excuse or justify any of our shortcomings nor excuse any sin in our lives or the lives of others. There are consequences for sin. We all will have to answer to God. Sin separates us from God! We should readily admit when we are wrong, repent and step up to the plate, do better and increase our momentum moving towards Him. Humility is a virtue. Although our positions in the Body of Christ are different we are all called to be disciples. A disciple is a learner. He or she is someone who believes in and follows the teaching of Jesus Christ. We serve an Omniscient God who truly does know our hearts. God is Omnipresent. We can reach out to Him 24/7 Taking regular spiritual baths in HIS Word can cleanse us from any unrighteousness. This is also what keeps us on the straight and Narrow Path that leads to Him. We can live before Him transparently and unashamed. We are called to contend for the FAITH!
Book of Praise Lesson Highlights
BOOK 1
“A Psalm of David.” Guidelines for living a blameless life.
Theme: The characteristics of the godly!
Author: David
The 7th of seven “penitential” Psalms
The question! Who can ascend to the Lord’s sanctuary? Sanctuary and Holy Hill are one and the same. God is Omnipresent. He is everywhere. He is boundlessly dimensional and infinite! We in our finite minds cannot limit His spiritual sanctuary to be where and how we want it to be.
In Revelation we are given a spiritual glimpse into heaven. There really is no human vernacular to adequately describe it. It is utterly indescribable therefore John uses illustrations we can relate to! He is caught up into the heavens and gives us an Apocalyptic Revelation of things to come! We come away knowing that GOD IS: “The Alpha & The Omega!” “Who is, and who was, and who is to come, THE ALMIGHTY!” Revelation 1. He is The Most High God!
It is important to spend some time here and spiritually assimilate this Psalm! We are told to “speak the TRUTH in LOVE!” God never meant for HIS CHURCH to become a mere social organization that bends and stretches His principles to make any and everyone feel comfortable in sin. We ALL are to repent of any sin and then turn to Him! We were created in HIS IMAGE to Worship and Praise Him! For HIS GLORY!
As we meditate on this Psalm it is clear that there are consequences for slander. Guess what there is a penalty when you malign others or attempt to discredit them or compromise what is right in order to be accepted… This is not a popularity contest! It is about winning souls for the Lord and encouraging others to live for HIM! Expect to be misunderstood. I write on many different subjects some that have little to do with me personally. It is important we are open to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. To shed light and give insight from a biblical perspective. The Word of God is feasible for all from all walks of life. The Holy Spirit will give you insight for we are "Called" to expound upon the biblical perspective. It is not our CHURCH or is it? There is only ONE! “WHO MAY DWELL IN YOUR SANCTUARY?”
Know the father of lies wants to divide, misconstrue, reap havoc upon our lives, get everyone and everybody to undermine the Truth of GOD'S WORD and then instead embrace worldly principles and lifestyles! We can go anywhere knowing the Lord is with us. But we can not do or say just anything... We are always to be mindful of who we are in the Lord. If you know: “the earth is the Lord’s and everything in it” Psalms 24, why is it that Christians are not in control! It is because many have allowed the world and its ways to take control over their lives instead of the WORD of GOD! Where is the fear of the LORD?
"Tell me how many sunsets have man made? How many men hold up the moon! How high is the sky? Who oversees the galaxy? Who tells the stars to shine? Who has a Heaven or a hell they can put you in? “WHO MAY DWELL IN YOUR SANCTUARY?”
The enemy knows that time is winding up and the end is near! Therefore in these perilous times he has pulled out all stops. He wants you to be fearful and make impulsive decisions. Look around and see all the havoc he is causing... He continues to deceive many. Look around at our economy fluctuating here and abroad. Look at the declining moral standards… Look at the continuous calamities and natural disasters all over the world. Look at the many divided marriages and families. We have had viruses, diseases, illness, pestilences and plagues run amuck before. But this COVID19 is taking its toll all throughout the world. Fear not! Yes do be concerned and be cautious and careful. Learn to exercise self-control.
Learn to respond in a way that pleases God!
The enemy continuously reeks much havoc! What we see happening is the collateral damages due to man's decisions in regards to life and living that go against GOD'S WILL... The Lord has given us a plethora of examples within HIS WORD! We are not supposed to make plans and then later invite the Lord to come and sanction them. It does not work that way. We are supposed to “Seek HIM and HIS righteousness first above ALL else!” Matthew 6. God is The SPIRIT of TRUTH! We need His Word, and His Holy Spirit to lead and KEEP us!
But wait! Don’t be discouraged! Don't fret! There is ALWAYS HOPE in THE LORD! He does have a better way! The “New Birth” is an inside job. The LORD CAN turn any life around at any time. He truly can and does make ALL the difference in the world! Regardless as to what is going on about us; we can be secure in HIM! ALL HIS WORD is TRUE!
The Book of Hebrews confirms this Psalm. ONLY GOD’S KINGDOM will last FOREVER! Hebrews teaches us that CHRIST JESUS death means something. “SEE to it that you DO NOT refuse He who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused Him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from Him who warns us from Heaven? At that time HIS VOICE shook the earth, but NOW has promised. “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the Heavens. The words “once more” indicate the moving of what can be shaken – that is, created things – so that what cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving A KINGDOM that CANNOT BE SHAKEN, let us be THANKFUL! and so WORSHIP GOD acceptably with REVERANCE and AWE, for OUR GOD IS A CONSUMING FIRE!” Hebrews 12. PRAISE GOD! Yes indeed!
“Lord, who may dwell in you sanctuary? Who may live on Your Holy Hill?”
ANSWER!
His answer is powerful, influential, enlightening and life changing!
“He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the TRUTH from His heart and has no slander on his tongue. Who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman, who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the Lord, who keeps his oath even when it hurts, who lends his money without usury and does not accept a bribe against the innocent.”
This Psalm concludes saying: “He who does these things will NEVER be shaken.”
