Ecclesiastes 4:12
Ecclesiastes 4:12

Introduction

Shalom!

I once officiated a wedding where I used some yarn to provide an object lesson. I wanted to demonstrate the strength of marriage and family. I had one piece of yarn that I showed to the groom and his bride and those in attendance at the wedding. This one piece of yarn was flimsy and weak. It took nothing for me to tear this piece of yarn in two. And, from out of the pocket of my dress, I pulled another piece of yarn; but, this time, instead of there being only one piece of yarn, I had an eight-piece braided piece of yarn. In contrast to the first piece of flimsy, weak yarn that I had shown, this second yarn, the braided yarn, was strong because it was made up of many pieces of yarn.

One Alone is One Alone

One alone is one alone.

One with two or three or eight or more stands strong for as long as they stand together.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 says, “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

If you are in the midst of a trial, reach out for that one more, or that two or eight more, have your brothers and sisters in the family of HaShem pray for you, pray with you.
