10 Best Music For Meditation, Relaxation And Spirituality
I had a quest. To find 10 best music albums for relaxation and meditation. I think I have cracked it here.
So, what was the trigger to this quest? Well, as someone who has been involved in many techniques on this journey of self enlightenment, I have had many encounters with tools. Music just being one of them.
What has been the best and most effective?
It is this article that I recommend what works the best and it is here I will list the 10 best music CD's especially to help you tune in and drop out, into new realms.
Like all the music I have listed here, you will be able to hear samples either from the video clips or by going to the Amazon link, as provided.
Best Meditation & Relaxation Music No 10: Music For Healing by Stephen Halpern
Steven Halpern's Music for Healing is, as per title, an indulgence for the mind, body and spirit.
The best of his relaxation box set called 'Sound Medicine', this CD will have you in a eurphoric state within minutes.
With 24 5 star reviews, it is no wonder why this has reached one of the top 10 best meditation and relaxation CD's.
Best Meditation & Relaxation Music No 9: The Tranquil Harp: Improvisations for Relaxation, Meditation, Integration by Paul Baker
The Tranquil Harp: Improvisations for Relaxation, Meditation, Integration by Paul Baker is a masterpiece of excellence.
The angelic transition from earthly bound routines, transmits you into a new world. The harp has often been associated with heavenly endeavours and through this medium, breaking through to the otherside is made easy.
I love this album - so did 34 other five star reviewers - and you will too.
Best Meditation & Relaxation Music No 8: Lost in Meditation: Meditative Gregorian Chants by Capella Gregoriana
Gregorian chant music isn't, generally, my cup of tea. However, Lost in Meditation: Meditative Gregorian Chants by Capella Gregoriana is the exception to disprove the rule.
I have found many Gregorian chants can be a bit irritating. This
really is the last place you want to be when you need to connect to a
dream state. But with Capella, there is no risk of that - it really is a
wonderful CD, full of Solfeggio tones.
Allessandro, one of reviewers of Amazon, states the following:
'This CD follows up the first volume with more beautiful chants. The recording is high quality, and the singing is superb (for plainsong). The pearl on this recording is track #18, 'Veni creator.' At less than seven dollars, this CD is one you must add to your library'
And I couldn't agree more.
I found this very powerful and invigorating. A different kind of meditation was experienced here... one that touched my solar plexus, deeply like a mystical power projecting outward, rather than inward.
Best Meditation & Relaxation Music No 7: Sacred Spirit: Chants and Dances of the Native Americans
This is a joyous, loving album which encompasses the wonderment of the native American Indians.
Here the chant in celebration to nature and enter the realms of the dreaming.
Sacred Spirit: Chants and Dances of the Native Americans really is a CD with a lovely selection of meditative music.
I really felt a sense of incantation with this one, as if witching had sent me into a euphoria. It sounds crazy, I know, but the music made me dance as if in a trance-like state. Highly recommended to help develop a different awareness!
Best Meditation & Relaxation Music No 6: Yoga Harmony by Terry Oldfield
Terry Oldfield has been a very old hand at meditation and relaxation music. I first discovered him many years ago with his production of 'In The Presence Of Light'. Since then, I have immersed myself in many of his transcendental pieces.
Yoga Harmony is one of his best and helps you to fixate on peace and higher meditative energies.
Best Meditation & Relaxation Music No 5: Classical Indian Music for Healing and Relaxation - The Ancient Beauty of the Veena
Classical Indian Music for Healing and Relaxation - The Ancient Beauty of the Veena is the very best in Indian meditational genre, if you imagine there being such a thing.
I love the ancient echoes of the past with this CD and I am sure you would agree with me. I have noticed the further back you go in music history, the more alike the influences are. If you listen carefully, you can hear a little Egyptian, Greek and Far Eastern going on, can't you?
This lovely CD will transport you to an ancient past.
Best Meditation & Relaxation Music No 4: The Healing Sounds of Tibetan Singing Bowls With Rain and Waterfall - The Ultimate Meditation Music
The Healing Sounds of Tibetan Singing Bowls With Rain and Waterfall - The Ultimate Meditation Music - Absolutely, at your baseline 'far off man' sound. If nothing else can get you into a deep meditative state - then this will.
Based on the om, this sound really does take you to a different dimension. What is it about the singing bowls? Why do they have this effect on people? They certainly operate at a different vibration to the rest of the world. This CD is absolutely mesmerizing.
Now this one took me to another dimension... that of Buddha and the great masters into the ethereal realm of dreaming... half in the physical world and half in the ring cos-me-not. This one is not to be missed if you want total submersion, I highly recommend it!
Best Meditation & Relaxation Music No 3: Chanting Om Vol. II - Splendor of Yoga
Chanting Om Vol. II - Splendor of Yoga really is for the hardened meditator but really needed to be listed in the top 10 of meditation and relaxation CD's.
The om sound is a powerful relaxant. It has been used for many centuries by Buddhists, with its deep monotone, lulling you to a dream state.
As a powerful, effective tool, I have chosen this because it deserves to be in with the best.
I am not very great at Yoga - I find it uncomfortable and in this, can't seem to focus on relaxation. However, if you use this musical inspiration, and allow your mind to go with the flow of the music, this CD, like me, will take you to a new world of exhortation.
Best Meditation & Relaxation Music No 2: Reiki Hands of Light By Deuter
Reiki Hands of Light By Deuter is far lighter than the other 10 best music albums for relaxation and meditation. It is subtle and beautiful with lots of piano influences - like fairies in the snow.
More for those who just want to chill out, rather than have a full on meditative experience, this CD really is the one for this occasion. This is why I have put it into the number 2 slot - because of its simplicity, beauty and light healing properties.
Best Meditation & Relaxation Music No 1: Terry Oldfield's Underwater World
Okay, we have now come to the very best in relaxation and meditation music. This one is top of the pops because it encompasses everything in terms of 'Turn on, tune in, drop out' (quoted from Timothy Leary). This tool will help you to lucid dream and, if you are more a visual person, rather than imaginative, can be purchased as a DVD.
So, what is this masterpiece? Terry Oldfield's Underwater World. This is a highly recommended DVD and with Terry Oldfield - you can never go wrong!
Terry Oldfield's Underwater World - Clip
The work of Terry Oldfield never fails me to enter a world of relaxation and this DVD is probably, in my opinion, the best music he has every compiled and the number 1 in this list. I have never gone wrong with this, even in the most stressful of situations, it calms me and brings me back to the peace that I wish to experience. During those difficult times when you just can not drift, the visuals inspire and soon brings me into the place that I wish to be.
