From 4th Sun to 5th Sun

In December of 2012 a great event will happen, which only happens every 26,000 years. The sun will be directly aligned with the Dark Rift of the Milky Way Galaxy, which leads to the Galatic Center, or heart of the Great Mother. According to the Mayan prophets, since the 1980's we have been experiencing the transition from the fourth sun to the fifth sun.

Ether is the element of the fifth sun, which combines all the other elements together: earth, air, fire and water. Many ancient cultures and traditions spoke of ether, including Hinduism. The time of the fifth sun will highlight the feminine intuition, or inner knowing. We have travelled through many patriarchal ages to get to this fifth sun, the time of the Great Mother.

The Milky Way Galaxy is called the Great Mother by some traditions. Her heart is located in the center, the stars represent the pregnant womb and the Dark Rift represents her birth canal.

The ancients knew of this time and gave us stories, songs, poetry and sacred sites, which give guidance in how to navigate these times. Some think these stories are useless, ancient stories, which merely entertain; however, they are quite profound and have codes and symbols we can use to get through these times. Many of these are from the spiritual traditions of all the world's religions.

In 1994 a special white buffalo (bison) calf was born called Miracle, which fulfilled a prophecy given by White Buffalo Calf Woman and was a sign of her return to purify the Earth. When she returns again she will bring balance and spirituality. She left a sacred pipe, bundle and wisdom to the Lakotas in the Black Hills. The sacred pipe is on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation in South Dakota. There is always a keeper of this sacred pipe, and the current keeper is Arvol Looking Horse. One time I saw her in visionary form when some of my friends had invoked her name for a healing. She is a beautiful goddess and powerful healer.

In the Hindu tradition, Mother Kali, another form of the Divine Mother, will appear at the end of Kali Yuga to purify and create a new consciousness and cycle of light and peace. These stories tell us an important truth that the Divine Feminine will bring about great changes in the world.

In many traditions women were the keepers of the Sacred Mysteries. They knew how to use the subtle energies of emotion, vibration, healing, mysticism and the psychic realms. They naturally knew how to use their inner knowing, or woman's intuition. Pandit Munelal Maharaj spoke about this inner knowing and women when he was in Minneapolis recently for a three-day katha (storytelling & teaching). The Hindus recognize the feminine energy as being the energy which prevades the Universe. Nothing can be done without this feminine energy.

Unfortunately, the patriarchy took over and stifled this aspect of life, so that the balance of the male and female was too one sided in the masculine direction. The ancient traditions will show us how to navigate these times. Women worked with nature; and in these times of Global Warming, it is crucial to know her mysteries. As Priestess Sharon Rose says, "The powerful female deities--such as Kali and Durga of India, Sekhmet of Egypt, Athena of Greece and Simhamukka of Tibet--teach us the true nature of power. In their myths and stories, they demonstrate that real power is not about control, repression and domination; it is about flexibility and clarity in the midst of chaos." Women only know too well this situation as being care takers of children: you have to be flexible amongst the chaos.

Women network and collaborate to make better decisions in solving problems. This is part of the sisterhood which exists to this day. The idea is to create a world where everyone counts and decides how to solve problems. We know how to conserve resources because we often have to stretch them in our own family situations. Many are getting fed up with our war and greed consciousness. This is what the Occupy Movement is addressing all over the world.

Venus passed between the Earth and the Sun starting on June 8, 2004 and will be ending this transit on June 6, 2012. This eight year period is called the Venus Transits. Venus is about love and relationships. Compassion is very much a part of her consciousness. This time period is very much about the power of the Divine Feminine. She is about our creative and artistic sides. This time period also is in conjunction with Uranus in Pisces, which has to do with intuitive communication among humans. Venus is about purging fear from our collective consciousness. Love will become an important factor during the time of these transits.

We are finding that we are expending too many resources on war and have decided to look at our military budgets. We are looking at our greed for material goods. We are questioning the patriarchal system. Questioning is important for spiritual growth. If you always go along with your leaders and spiritual teachers on everything, you are not really growing spiritually. Learning to look at each situation is important. Women often look at the whole picture of a situation to get at the root of the problem. We will continue the Feminine Consciousness coming into this period of the fifth sun. It will be about doing everything out of love, not obligation. We are birthing a new, yet very ancient consciousness: the Love of the Great Mother.

Thanks for the compliment. College is where I really learned to research. In journalism and radio programs research is so crucial to interviewing people. 2012 will be a lot of what we make it.
