will the world end in 2012? Is it goodbye or not

Updated on May 28, 2012

Oh No is it really over

Wow every where I go I here about the world ending on Dec. 22 2012.

So is it? First some compelling info that like lots of it can not be substantiated.

I am in Nebraska once a week on hwy 71 between Kimball and Scottsbluff , and every week for months now I have seen military vehicles in large numbers always in the same area. Sometimes they are just driving down the road, but sometimes they have armed escort and a covered load. What is strange about this?

Many of the scenarios say the end will be a flood caused by the poles shifting. If you check out there are many videos on how the world will supposedly look after the event. You may notice that the area of Nebraska I mentioned is dry in almost all of them.

Could that be why all the military vehicles are converging in this area ? I don't know but it is one thing that could make a person wonder.

Poles shifting

Who knows, Well some say the government does I do not.

If the poles shift is it a big deal at all? We can say that if the world were to change its axis all at once the oceans would come out of there beds and flood every thing. That's easy to believe. Just think about it if you take a ball in your hand and manage to set things on it what happens when you suddenly spin it ? But the poles shifting Some say the wild life like birds who navigate with a built in compass will have a problem and that's about it.

Others say all electronics will fail. Some claim the earth will start rotating in the opposite direction ending all life or at least most of it.

Galactic Alignment

Many are saying that on Dec 22nd the Galactic Alignment will happen. It happens once about every 26,000 years.

When the Sun lines up with the Galactic equator. They say massive sun flares will do massive damage to the earth. For more of what they say will happen do a search on "the Galactic Alignment" the info is limitless. Could this be real?

The Mayan and the Old Egyptians

Some say the Mayan and the Old Egyptians new something about this and even predicted it. It is even said the knowledge is stored in a place called Labyrinth of Hawara, and that the Mayans new this stuff.

To me that would open up yet another theory ,Ancient aliens . I'm not heading in that direction so don't click off yet, I'm just saying that for man to have had that level of education that long ago, it seems they would have had to have some alien intervention.

Maybe just maybe

Its thousands of years ago ,your sitting there looking at a calendar that you have made and it goes 2000 years into the future, and you say what the heck I think thats long enough let some one else add to this later.
Here is another thing I found out believe it or not from my own 12 year old son.

He told me that the Mayan calendar does not count leap years. So if you add those into it, the end would have been seven months ago. So its nothing to worry about.

If the Mayans new all this stuff that was going to happen in our time that raises another question. Why didn't they save them self's ? What they new our end but not theirs. And if they did know when they would face their end why not stop the calendar there ?

Other things what do they mean?

Here is some info from 2011

We had record heat , cold, rain. This year in Colorado I have heard it predicted that this will be the worst tornado season in history. In my 40 + years I have seen some big weather changes in the area I live in.

In any case what will be will be. I have no idea what will happen on Dec. 22nd this year. I Love my family and will face it with them if nothing happens we will go on if something does we will deal with it.

As always thanks for reading my ramble I hope it gives you something to think about or discuss with your own family.

Maralexa Thanks for your thoughtful comments. I try to write more to provoke thought ,Than to state things as fact. I am glad you seem to notice this. It makes me feel good, That I may have given others something to think about.

Very interesting, food for thought. By writing about this possible end of the world (as we know it) you make people think about what they might do if things change drastically and they are still here.

Your words contribute to others by urging them to think about their values. You state yours well in your last 2 paragraphs.

      Voted up and interesting.

I too like the point about leap year not being used. If there truly is an 'end of days', it certainly is not for man to know that date. Unless, ofcourse man is orchestrating it by his actions, how would he truly know.

People sometimes focus on something to the extent it becomes reality. This would require enough people to get on that band-wagon. Although this will become a hotter issue throughout the remainder of the year, especially as the time frame is anticipated, it too will have to be clarified by so-called experts.

Man again will try to anticipate his demise, only to go back to the drawing board. It will be interesting to see what drastic measures some take in the latter of the year.

That seems to be what I found as well I read it has shifted 40 miles in the last 40 years. Don't know how accurate that is though

the shift is of the magnetic poles and has happened several times already in the earth's history, with no catastrophes. it's not sudden but takes thousands of years to happen

in fact the magnetic poles are constantly changing - if you use a map and compass, the declination youu need to use today is not the same as what a 30 year old topo map says

This is something that I'm sure is on many peoples minds. I've thought about it myself and figure if something does happen there's not much we can do about it. I like your sons reasoning about the leap year calendar. Have you read about the shelters and bunkers that people are getting ready to move into?

      Interesting hub. Welcome to HubPages.
