A Housewife Dilemma

Updated on October 17, 2011

A Busy Housewife's Delimma

The alarm rings. I jump from bed

No time to pray, get breakfast instead..

I'll pray later when breakfast is o'er,

But baby awakes and I think once more,

I'll pray later when the baby is fed.,

He'll play  awhile if I put him in bed..

But Johnny wakes up before baby is done,

I'll pray when baby naps about half past one.

But  the men are late and our dinner is ,too.

Then the  baby won't sleep what ever I do.

Finally  he falls asleep a little past three,

I look at the clock ,time to start supper, I see .

Guess I had better wait till supper is past

Then maybe I can take time to pray at last.

The dishes are done and I let out a sigh,

I fall down on my knees and I hear baby cry.

Maybe, he'll play quiet if I wait just a minute

But the bed starts shaking with baby there in it.

" Will you excuse me , Dear Lord, ?'I wearily say

I'll be back soon as I can to  kneel and pray,

When  the house is all quiet at close of day,

Then I kneel down and finally start to pray.

But I'm so tired now that I can't think clear,

I awoke with a start ,went to sleep right here.

Oh. Lord.I  need precious time .I need it today

Show me,Lord ,help me find a way to pray.!

I wonder how many more mother's have had

similar experiences?Probably many of them

especially if they had more than one child.

I wrote this in 1969 when my youngest

son was a baby then,At times

there was not too much quiet time then.

Now they are just memories, It is nice to

take memories out of our memory bank

to see. and think about  I hope your

memories are all good ones.

My Friend, this Poem is more about busy, busy and rushy,

rushy! I do pray from time to time during the day but mostly at night but recently, when I am praying at night the Devil tries to rock me to sleep before I get my prayers finished. I am sorry to say, that sometimes he succeeds! Love you, Tessie
