A pap paws little helper

Happy Times

Going fishing with pap paw, A warm summer day, A cooler full of food and ice tea, OhYa" me and my little helper, aka Willow" are going fishing" She had been asking me to go fishing every day,I know what she was thinking, she wanted to drive the boat, just look at the smile on her face, how could I say no. Willow and my self, aka pap paw"have been spending all our free time on the creek bank sense she was big enough to walk.I would always bring a long some toys and a coloring books and crayons for her, when the fish weren't biting,

caught one"

Throwing rocks

Taking willow fishing, reminds me of the time I took her dad Adam then four years old and her uncle Matt who was two, fishing, We had set there on the creek bank fishing for about an hour with out hardly getting a bite, The boys was throwing rocks in the creek, some just barely missing me.When I finely got them to settle down, and just draw pictures in the sandy dirt behind me. Adam got a big bite on his pole, just what I had hoped for, I yelled Adam your pole he came and quickly grabbed it up and gave a big jerk on it and the fight was on, I never herd so much hollering and careing on it was all he could do to hold it. He was yelling help" dad help",his eyes was full of excitement, it was his first big fish, with some help from dad he landed his first 5lb catfish. From that day forth I had me a fishing buddy.

Catch of the day

Dads fishing pole

There is no greater enjoyment for me, then to watch the kids learning to fish. I enjoy teaching them what I know, just like my dad taught me,I had the best dad in the world. He worked a lot but when he got some free time he always took myself and my brothers fishing, all though he never seem to understand just how badly I wanted to fish with his open face bait cast rod and reel, it was so much better then our cane poles with there little red and white floaters.I had 3 other brothers that wanted to get there hands on that fancy pole just as bad as I did.Dad was always a strong believer if you talked to loud or to much you would scare all the fish away. We would set there watching our little red floaters like a hawk, hoping to catch mobey dick. But we all new to do that we needed a pole like dads, needless to say we were all thinking the same thing yap, as soon as dad went to look for a tree to mark, one of us was going to get our hands on dads pole, ya we all new the punishment for touching dads fishing pole meant life without a chance of prole.

Adam and Willow

Dads fishing pole

The time had to be getting close , when dad would get up and go find a tree, I can still here him in the memories of my mind. Now mind you my dad was a good man but he was raising 4 hard core country boys, so he wasnt beyond useing a curse word or two when giving us instructions on what he he wanted done or what he didn't want done. I know dad would set there as long as he could, till his balder felt like it was going to bust before he would get up. Finely dad would get up and the first thing he would say was you boys don't bother my dam pole, I will be back in a minuet. Oh boy " its going to be mine" even If its for one good cast. As soon as dad would step behind that tree, The fight was on, we all ran for dads pole" I can just picture him yet today setting there trying to untangle all that backlashesd fishing line on his reel. He would set there mad as a hornet in a fruit jar, saying little sb little sb over and over.I relay miss him, but I'm glad I can pass down my memories to my boys and them to there children.

Looks like I got skunked again
