A poem of the transforming power of faith and the work of God in our lives

Updated on March 4, 2010

Little butterfly

Floating on the breeze,

You are so lovely.

You are weightless and free.

A worm you used to be.

Anchored to this earth by winglessness and form.

Ugly. Stubby. Unadorned.

But then

In secret you were transformed.

Emerging in beauty and free to soar.

When I look at you

I see a miracle.

When I look at you

I long for a miracle...

in me.

For I am not so lovely.

Anchored to this earth by worries and fears.

Selfish. Proud. Unkind.

Should I...Could I...

Submit myself to the Creator?

The same One who transformed you,

Would He transform me too?

So, in secret I pray.

I allow His work in me.

Until one day I too will emerge.

Weightless and free

Floating on the breeze in the light of the Son.

For He is the One who makes all things new.

Even me.
