A special kind of diet

Updated on January 29, 2011

This is the time when I think most people are into all kinds of "DIET." I am. Mine is a "healthy-lifestyle-diet" where I get to choose the kind of healthy food that I eat. That way, I don't feel deprived or limited. This has worked for me overtime. It didn't make me lose right away, but developing the habit of choosing healthy food has taught me self-discipline and resistance. Don't get me wrong, I still eat cakes and chocolates, but I make sure I just get a bite and not over indulge. My mom always says of cakes and sweets --- once on the lips but forever on the hips! How true, isn't it?

Having this mind made me think about my spiritual "diet"? Am I feeding heatlhy enough food for my spirit that will last me for eternity? if we, on the physical aspect, are careful enough not to harm our body, which we know for sure is here today but gone tomorrow, then what more of the spirit that will in eternity?

What we feed our soul and our spirit is what will keep us in the race, called life and life eternal. You see, If we neglect in keeping ourselves and our spirit "fit" then its like traversing the path of destruction.

The bible clearly tells us in Romans 12:2 to "not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the entire renewal of your mind!" We need to let God change the way we think. So how is this possible, then, you ask me? well, be careful with what you feed your spirit. Read the bible. It is the source of our strength and joy and wisdom. I am not against any inspirational books, but I believe the bible contains ALL the answers to all of life's questions.

Now how about that for spiritual food? It not only provides nourishment, but with it comes the gift of eternal life.
