Radhastmi 2013

Happy Radhastmi to you all! Radha first appeared two weeks after Krishna first appeared in a jail cell in Mathura. She came to Earth on the eighth day of the wanning month. King Vrishabhanu and Queen Kirtida first saw Her on a whorl of a lotus with a beautiful aura surrounding Her. What a great and beautiful scene this must have been! With Her appearance the incarnation was complete. She is Krishna's consort and Shakti. She closed Her eyes until She first encountered Krishna when Jashoda and Nanda visited the royal couple in their home. Krishna crawled up into the cradle and looked in and Radha's eyes blossomed like lotuses. It was then Kirtida knew that Radha and Krishna would be connected somehow. It was their destiny to be together in some wonderful way.

I remember my encounter with Radha and Krishna in a very vivid, lucid dream. In this dream I was in this very beautiful ornate palace in one of the very large ballrooms. There were golden ornaments in this room. All of a sudden Radha appeared with Krishna. Both were so splenderly dressed in gorgeous red attire. It was so powerful to see them together. The love bond was so intense that you could only feel total Divine Love in this palace. I will never forget this wonderful and profound dream of the Divine Couple. To me they are a symbol of Eternal Love.

For centuries people have been fascinated about Radha and Krishna. In Vrindavan Her name is chanted all the time even more than Krishna's name. It is through your relationship with Her that you can ultimately experience true Divinity. She is Krishna's energy and feminine aspect. He was enchanted by Her and played His flute for Her in the woods where they played together along with the gopis.

Her story is described in the Srimad Bhagavatam, Gita Govinda, Brahma Vaivarta Purana, Garga Samhita, Brihad Gautamiya, Nimbarka Sampradya and Vidagda-madhava.

She has many great qualities as described in these sacred texts. She was called Srimata Radharani by Krishna and many others. Krishna has 64 divine aspects or qualities, while Radha has 25 such aspects. What are these qualities? 1. She is very sweet. 2. She is a young girl full of freshness for life. 3. Her eyes are constantly in motion. 4. She has a great, bright and eternal smile. 5. She has auspicious marks on Her body. 6. She can agitate Krishna through Her personality. 7. She is an accomplished singer and musician. 8. She communicates sweetly with grace. 9. She is the queen of female attractiveness. 10. She is full of gentleness and modesty. 11. She is full of mercy. 12. She is shrewd. 13. She is an expert of attractive fashion. 14. She has shy aspects. 15. She always understands respectfulness. 16. Patience is one of Her virtues. 17. She is grave. 18. Krishna enjoys Her and She enjoys Him. 19. She is worshipped by Her devotees. 20. She is love to the residents of Gokula. 21. She is the shelter of all devotees. 22. She is affectionate to all. 23. She is willing to help out Her associates and devotees. 24. She is the greatest girlfriend of Krishna. 25. She is the director of Krishna because She is His Shakti.

She is very much a part of the Maha Mantra because Hare represents Her energy. She is also known as Mother Hara, so hare describes Her energy. It is through Her energy we can experience Krishna.

Krishna describes Her this way, "Although the effulgence of the moon is brilliant initially at night, in the day time it fades away. Similarly, although the lotus is beautiful during the day time, at night it closes. But, O my friend, the face of my most dear Srimata Radharani is always bright and beautiful, both day and night. Therefore, to what can Her face be compared?" (Vidagha-madhava 5:20)

How can you experience Her in your every day life? She is found in the great women who you know who make the world a better place by the love they give and share with others. All women have this Mother Aspect of Divine Love. Mothers love you unconditionally no matter what you have done. Radha had this unconditional love for Krishna and for others in Her life. She was very devoted to Krishna in the true spiritual sense of the word.

That dream of Radha with Krishna was very vivid and intense. The depth of love in the dream was so profound. It is so hard to describe it in earthly terms. It touched my soul that day and continues to touch me every day. That is Radha's energy. It is deep and eternal. You will find Radha serving the homeless and those in prison. She brings hope to you when you feel desparate in hard circumstances. She is true love and a beacon in the darkness. Today I honor Her on Her Appearance Day. May She always be with you!

Story of Radha-Krishna is much loved in Hindu culture. Krishna and Radha are worshiped together. Krishna never married Radha, however, in Hindu religion Radha is Krishna's Shakti.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge and wisdom.
