Finally white smoke poured from chimney where 115 cardinal electors had finally chosen Jorge Mario Bergoglio named as Pope Francis 1 from Argentina to lead world's 1 billion plus Roman Catholics Taking the history of 2000 year old church, Francis is the 266th Pontiff. The announcement was made by a French cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran who spoke in Latin words as "Annuntio vobis gaudium magnum. Habemus Papam" which means "I announce to you a great joy. We have a pope".

Jorge Mario Bergoglio was born in the year 1936 December 17 at Buenos Aires, Argentina. Francis completed his graduation from technical secondary school Escuelas T├ęcnicas #27, Hipolito Yrigoyen in chemical technical field. His decision to become a priest emerged as he was 21 years old where he give more interests on religious studies. Jorge Mario Bergoglio has crowned the following positions till 2013.

1982-1997: Auxiliary Bishop of Buenos Aires

1992-1997: Titular Bishop of Auca

1998-2013: Archbishop of Buenos Aires

2001-2013: Cardinal-Priest of St. Roberto Bellarmino

1998-2013: Ordinary of the Ordinariate for the Faithful of the Eastern Rites in Argentina

      The ritual of white smoke to announce the pope is interesting. I read that the ballots are burned after each vote. Black smoke (straw is mixed with the ballots) indicates a failed ballot.
