An Explanation of Current Natural Disasters

Updated on April 15, 2011

Friends and family have been coming to Tammy and I asking our opinions on what is up with all the natural disasters taking place globally. Before I take time to expound on this I will reference you to two passages of Scriptures found in Luke and Romans. I could use more but I feel these two suffice our needs.

Luke 19:39 And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.”
40 But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.”

Romans 8:21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.

Ok that explains it end of hub. Just learn what these two verses mean and I can save myself writing time and you the reader reading time..... Now did you really think I was going to let you off that easy? Nope not hardly, sit back and hopefully you enjoy or learn something as I have.

In Luke 19 Jesus was entering the city riding in on a donkey colt. The people were crying" Hosanna, hosanna to the King." They were ready for Christ to establish His kingdom on Earth. They were looking for what they selfishly wanted to see Jesus perform. It was in their hope that Jesus was there to destroy Roman rule and be seated as the King of Israel. The Pharisees still saw Jesus as a hoax and yelled out for Him to quiet the people saying they were nuts calling out to Jesus and praising Him as King. The Pharisees did have one thing right though, Jesus was not there to set up His Earthly reign! His time had not yet come. But, He answered the Pharisees with verse 40 of Luke 19 that if He silenced His disciples even the stones would cry out. Wow, how powerful a statement. Then Paul wrote as inspired by the Holy Spirit in Romans 8: 21 & 22 that the whole world groans and labors in birth pangs for the Saviour. What does this mean?

We as Christians have governments around the world decreeing that witnessing of the Lord Jesus Christ is illegal, imprisonment and even death is the penalty for testifying the name of Jesus Christ. Even speaking of God, provided it is not the false little "g" god Allah, may lead to this same action against true God fearing born again Christians. Our silence is causing the Earth to cry out. All the signs of the times are saying the earth even labors with birth pangs like a woman in child labor waiting for the return of the Master of the Seas Jesus Christ.

The wind blows as it wishes like the hurricanes such as Katrina, the tornados that devastate the Southern United States and the Midwest. The volcanos that destroy so much land and cause crops to die. The earthquakes such as in Chili, Haiti and Japan all heed warnings that the Earth is groaning for the King to restore the land. Man's wickedness has torn the Earth, it has polluted the skies and worse it has polluted the human soul and spirit. The tsunamis that have hit around the world is a result of the oceans crying out to only be stilled by the One who speaks the Truth and whispers out,"Peace be still."

My friends we have gone from being in the last days as the Apostles Peter and Paul wrote of, that Jesus in Matthew 24 warned us about to the very last minutes. Time is running out on the world as we type and read this message. Are you prepared? Do your loved ones know Jesus Christ as The Way The Truth and The Life? What will you do to make sure? Will you speak to them Jesus? I love in Acts 27 when Phillip was led to the Eunuch and it says he took the scriptures and preached unto him Jesus. That is our calling, not trying to prove or defend our belief but preaching unto them JESUS.

I have read two incredibly great books lately. They are Foxes Book of Martyrs and Jesus Freaks. If you do not have a copy of them they are a must have for every believer to have and to thoroughly read. They say just what I have humbly tried to explain here, that the voices of us as Christians are being silenced but creation itself will not be quiet and is calling out the name of the Most High Jesus Christ. See just how others have lived and died for the name of Christ, for not recanting their faith. See how in many countries the Gospel is a felony around the world. See how many hide in secret to hear the Gospel preached. Then fall on your face and praise God that has not yet happened here in the United States of America. I do not take political sides BUT I do tell you this, the sitting president of this country is starting a re-election campaign already, if he would miraculously win we WILL see that in the next few years here in America. Our freedom to worship God will greatly be silenced. Maybe not near as bad as some other countries but it will not be good. This is a hub of what the world is going through and not a political rant, but this is what is leading Christians to be quiet, a strong arming of world leaders. And when we are silenced, the Earth will be crying out as it is already.

Thanks for your comment, yes the disasters and groaning have increased in the last 18 months or so. I know God is pulling His glorious hand back from this earth. Soon Jesus will call us home we need to be ready for that day and reach as many lost loved ones and friends and neighbors before that day.

I think your 'explanation' is a gentle warning...even more so than when you published it. 'Things' have increased to destruction so rapidly and seems to have no ending, even as our presidential election is only weeks away.

Thanks for stoping in and you are right it is our sin and turning from God that has the earth groaning, it is our sin and lack of showing Christ in our lives that the earth itself is displaying the wondrous God!

Michael, the Earth may be "groaning for the King to restore the land," but our sin, as you have said, is doing much to help the destructive circumstance:Psa.60:1,2; Isa.13:11-13; 24:1,5,19,20; ch29; Jer.4:18,22,23,24,26.

Yes it is groaning, just as Christ was so pressured under the guilt of sins falling upon Him in the garden to the cross. Now the earth groans for its Creator, as we should be.

Wow! I loved this revelation and insight about the rocks crying out and how it relates to current events. The thought has crossed my mind also about the earth groaning under the weight of our sins.

      A blessed read.

Thanks for stopping in, glad to hear from you as always. I was hoping this would go over well I felt I didn't do a very good job writing this. I do pray it awakens people though and the Gospel goes out.

      Brother Dave,

I believe we are truly in the last moments and nothing is going to stop the earth from groaning. i don't say this as a worrisome or in a panic type way. I with all my heart believe as Jesus said in Matthew 24 we are to discern the times, we are about to be part of the greatest triumph in the New Testament church age. With that said, we are to be diligent in spreading the Gospel. Many think just because they believe and show it in attending church they are living up to the calling. Far be it from the truth if that is what they think. We are to go out and witness of Jesus Christ and win souls. We may not harvest the fruit of that witnessing but we have planted the seed for others to harvest. Your point is extremely valid of Christian hubbers using the internet to spread His Word we have an outlet to exclaim the Gospel, we also need to show that to people we meet each day. I have changed my prayer from God lead someone my way today to God put someone in my way that I may not leave them until they have heard the Gospel. And as Brother Lifegate says, keep on keeping on.

Michael dear brother I can agree with you in what you say. The earth is cying out. The question is though Our Lord Jesus Gospels, and God's teachings is reaching millions and millions through varios means such as missionaries, priests, nuns, lei-people speaking out to others even through such writings as the Christian writers of Hub, Face Book and the like and still we are not reaching enough people to stop the world from groaning. What is the answer?
