What to Do When Things in Your Life Are Just Not Working the Way You Want

Updated on June 19, 2013

Here’s a scenario:

You have a small business, and you have hired a few employees. You have explained to your employees the vision for your company and the objectives you are striving to achieve. You give each employee their assignment and explain their responsibilities. You agree to compensate them for helping to push your business closer to the set goals. You have thoroughly trained your employees to satisfactorily complete their tasks and have released them to complete their assignments. After a few months, you check your reports and discover that your business has not progressed at all. The reports show that your business is not performing anywhere near your projections. You then meet with your employees to make sure they understand their assignments and are performing them to their highest ability. A few months later, the reports show that not only have your business not progressed, but things are a lot worse. You discover you have paid out large sums of money without absolutely any return on your investment. You make the decision to personally check on each of your employees to see how they are performing. To your surprise, your employees are not doing their jobs as assigned. They are slacking on the job without a care about helping the business to achieve its goal.

What do you do next?

Ahhh . . . Here comes the famous Donald Trump words . . .

You're Fired!
You're Fired! | Source
Your Time is Compensation For Your Employees . . . Time is Money!
Your Time is Compensation For Your Employees . . . Time is Money!

Yes, you MUST say the famous words . . . YOU'RE FIRED!

This is the exact approach that you must take when dealing with the “things” in your life. You are the manager of all “things” in your life . . . They are your employees. They are supposed to satisfactorily complete the assignments that you give to them. If, after spending your time on them (or paying them a lot of your attention) you discover that they are not doing as you have assigned, you must fire them!

This is one of the Bible secrets that I have uncovered. Allow me to explain this a bit further.

In the Holy Bible (New Revised Standard Version), Genesis 1: 28 reads as follows: God blessed them, and God said unto them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.”

From this verse we learn that God made mankind the property managers of His earth! We have dominion over every “thing” on earth, and it is our responsibility to subdue or control the “things” that God has given to us.

God is our boss. He blesses us with “things” as our employees working under our dominion to achieve His objectives. All the “things” that God gives are “good” therefore our “things” or employees given to us by God are “good” workers . . . There is no need to worry about slackers. Our God-given employees will perform just as we instruct according to Jesus when He said in

Matthew 21: 21-22 (King James Version), “Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”

What was done to the fig tree?

The fig tree that Jesus is referring to in Matthew 21: 21 had an assignment to produce fruit for food. When Jesus checked to see if this fig tree was doing its job, Jesus discovered it was not performing as instructed . . . The fig tree was a slacker, therefore Jesus had to fire it!

Matthew 22: 18-19 (NRSV) gives us an account of what happened:

In the morning, when He returned to the city, He was hungry. And seeing a fig tree by the side of the road, He went to it and found nothing at all on it but leaves. Then He said to it, “May no fruit ever come from you again!” And the fig tree withered at once.

Before I learned that our responsibility as property managers of God’s earth is to make sure everything is performing as assigned, I had a major problem with what Jesus did to the fig tree . . . “Poor fig tree!” I thought. But now, I get it! When God blesses you with some “thing”, it will perform exactly as you instruct to achieve God’s objectives for His earth. But when Satan is at work, he will plant “things” in your life that will not act in this perfect obedience. The purpose of Satan is to kill, to steal and to destroy according to John 10: 10; so any “thing” working for Satan will be working against the will of God. It is our responsibility, just as Jesus demonstrated, to recognize those things that are not performing as assigned and to fire them . . . These lazy critters are not from God. Jesus tells us in

Matthew 15: 13 (NRSV) “Every plant that my Heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted.”

Here’s another scenario:

A pregnant couple goes to their doctor for a checkup. After running some tests, the doctor says to the expectant couple, “I am sorry to inform you, but your baby will be born with some severe deformities.”

What just happened here?

The doctor took over the management position of the couple and assigned the body to produce a severely deformed newborn. He has no right! The responsibility of management of this pregnant body was given to this pregnant couple. They are the ones who should give an assignment to the body. What they should do is to cancel the assignment given by the doctor and to instruct the body, “It is your job, in the name of Jesus, to produce a completely healthy child complete with all faculties. This child will be completely whole and perfectly healthy.”

People turning their dominion over to others happen much too often because of their lack of the correct knowledge of truth. We are told in

Hosea 4: 6 (NRSV): “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me.”

God will terminate your management position when you don’t perform as He requests! This is what happened to Adam and Eve (see Genesis 3) when they rejected God’s instructions and followed Satan. They handed their management position over to Satan. (God had to send His only begotten Son, who had a spotless work record, as the new senior manager to replace Satan’s position since no one on earth after Adam and Eve was qualified to fill the position. After Jesus took over the senior manager position, He then made us His assistant managers. . . This is the reason we say “In the name of Jesus” which states that we have been given authority by Jesus to make management decisions.)

Here is some important knowledge of truth to remember. When God blesses you with “things”, these are YOUR employees: Your life; Your body; Your residence; Your health; Your family; Your vehicle; Your special gifts, etc. You should never allow anyone else to take over your manager position. Other property managers have their own employees to manage. As God’s property managers, we have been given different assignments by God and have been blessed with all the “things” we need to get the job done. Keep your focus on your management job and direct your employees efficiently.

A very powerful tool that we have been given to direct the “things” in our lives is our ability to make things happen with our prophetic speech. We need only to speak with faith to the “things” in our lives to give them their assignments and it shall be done, if we believe and never doubt. This prophetic speech blessing from God is also referred to as Biblical Confession . . . Whatever we ask, shall be done.

Using God’s Word as our management manual to speak as God wants us to speak is our guarantee of everything working in our lives as they should. Examples would be to speak the following:

  • Abundant life, in the name of Jesus, you must come to me according to John 10: 10

  • My body, in the name of Jesus, you have been completely healed according to 1 Peter 2: 24

  • Demonic forces, in the name of Jesus, I resist you and submit myself to following instructions from God; therefore you must flee from my life according to James 4: 7

  • I know from Romans 8: 28 that all “things” work together for good for those who love God and who are called according to His purpose; so all the things that are not working to give me a “good” life of obedience to God’s ways, you are fired! You must leave the premises immediately.

The ultimate secret of getting the “things” in your life as you would want is your Biblical confessions or prophetic speech to the “things” in your life. You must be certain that you are clear as to what the duties are of the “things” in your life.

Proverbs 18: 21 tell us, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”

So, to those “things” in your life that are not working properly, make sure you have clearly stated their assignments. As for those things that you know for certain that you have explained the duties and they are still not working for you as you requested, it is time to say . . . You’re fired! “Things” in your life planted by Satan will never work as you wish . . . They are incapable of doing good.

So, what you have learned today is that when things are not working as you want . . . Speak up!

Luke 10: 17 (NRSV) talks about how some of our fellow managers were amazed at how powerful the authority given to us really is:

The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, in your name even the demons submit to us!”

The “things” of God will act in obedience, and the “things” of Satan will flee.

In the name of Jesus, I have instructed this Hub to attract many people who are seeking answers. They shall be blessed with the message that is delivered. Jesus, I have given this assignment according to Your promise in

John 14: 13-14: I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If in my name you ask me for anything, I will do it.

There you have it!

If you are reading this Hub, it is doing its job, but is it doing it to its highest ability? Please help this Hub to keep its job! (SMILE!)

Man I have never looked at dominion from that perspective. You are absolutely right. God has given us talents and He expects a return on them. Im reminded of the parable of the talents in Matthew 25. When fail to properly manage and use what God has given us, we risk losing it all. Thank for this. Great Hub....
