Angels All Around

Updated on July 16, 2013

As I drove unaware of the danger so close to me; I thought about different things like what I would cook for dinner and how much time I had before I went back to work. I was on my way home for my lunch break and kind of in a hurry. I knew it would take most of my time to get there and back so I was trying to make every move as speedy as could be. As usual in my mad dash, I approached a stop light that held me up for a moment. While I waited for it to turn green and let me go on my way I saw a boy riding by on a bicycle that had an extraordinary look which caught my eye. As my eyes followed this boy riding along the side walk for a few seconds everything around me seemed so calm and quiet. At a glimpse no cars were around at all. Only me and the kid on the bike. Little did I know the light had changed back to green and I could have missed my chance to start back on my dash towards home. Right then as I lifted my foot from the brake and began to apply it to the gas petal, an SUV went zooming by running their red light and ripping through the intersection. Of course I slammed on brakes trying to avoid an accident. I couldn't believe how fast they were going! I couldn't believe they ran the stop light... What was that person thinking. As I looked to make sure my light was green and saw that it was safe to proceed, I also looked back to see how far the boy on the bike had gotten. Amazing he was no where in sight. There were no turns he could have made; just a long straight side walk. The close encounter took my mind off of rushing and the disappearance of the boy puzzled me. Where in the world could that boy have gone so fast? The whole scene happened in a split second so I know he couldn't have been riding the bicycle that fast... As my day went on I continued to think about this extraordinary boy I saw and by my attention being on him for those few seconds how it saved me from being involved in a terrible accident. It wasn't until I started telling my mother about what happened when I realized that God sent an angel to distract me so that the car running the light would pass before me.

"Therefore, angels are only servants--spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation." Hebrews 1:14 (NLT)

I am so thankful that I serve an amazing God and that he cares so much for me that he sends these beings to protect me even when I'm not paying attention. There have been plenty of other times he has sent angels to saved me and I probably didn't even realize it. This experience opened my eyes though. From that day on, when something distracts me and holds me up I don't let it frustrate or bother me. I just see it as God's way of protecting me and keeping me out of harms way. Angels are real and all around us. They are powerful and here for a purpose. God sends them to assist us and minister to all believers. "The angels of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, and rescues them." Psalm 34:7 (NASB)

Have angels ever stepped in to protect you?

What a wonderful reminder. I know what you mean about continuing to think about the scene all day long. We are definitely surrounded by the protection of angels. Thank you for sharing your story.

I completely understand that. This happened to me when I wasn't connected as well I as should have been. It was an eye opener for me. Thanks for your comment!

Great hub that reminds us how much we are loved and protected by our Heavenly Father. I have also had experiences that most have been an angle watching over me., even when my life was not as connected to God as it is now!
