Some Facts on Animal Medicine

Updated on October 11, 2015

Here are a few animal medicine cards

There are so many different types of divination out there that one could get his mind boggled animal cards is one of them .originate with the native American whose life encompassed the wild the animals.Their lives are so intertwine with nature and the animals that they see themselves represented in the trait of the animals they come across daily.

To them reading and doing what the animal cards say is a way of life. It is engrave in their culture. They have so structured these cards and have extended there use to other cultures which many people enjoy today

Years ago a Peace Corp worker stayed in my house and she loan me this very interesting book on Native American animal medicine and she also loan me her pack of animal cards.

It was so interesting that I made notes from the book. What I did not do was to write down the name of the author. I was young and naive then and believe I would never come across a book like that again. She guarded the book with such tenacity that I could not really get a good read of it. The book had a dust cover and I removed it so that if the books got slightly soiled the dust cover would still make it look new. She lent me that book for only 3 days. Because I was a working mom I really could not assimilate it completely.

Because I could not get the book to really study it as I would have liked I quickly made notes.

Interesting Facts on Animal medicine

Now about 12 years later I was looking for something and came across the notes I made. I was so surprised that I had gotten so much information from this book. I also realized that some of the strategies by ways of the card spreads were woven in my past and my future life journey.

I was shock to see that the knowledge from these animal medicine cards had directed me to my present position. The funny thing though I did not pay any attention to this knowledge after those initial 4 days since I did not have access to the animal cards and did not quite believe they realy had concrete use in directing my life..

I do believe many individuals may find interest in this knowledge just as I did 12 years ago. At that time the internet was not widely available in Jamaica and so much knowledge was not available. Having research the internet . I have theorized that the book could have been written by Jamie Sams and David Carson. But whoever was the author or authors I thank them and the Peace Corp worker Willow Galenski for introducing animal medicine to me in 1996.

This hub will be written to inform others of what I have learnt about Native American Animal medicine Cards. I now see that I had acquired a wealth of information which cannot be limited to one hub page. You can look forward to this knowledge as it spans a number of hub pages.

Native Americans are seen as wise people because of their constant connection and communication with nature. They believe animals are our guides and believe that each animal has a medicine linked to it. Medicine in this sense is seen as anything that connects one to the great mystery of life. It is healing of body, mind and spirit. If one come across an animal whether in real life, a picture or in a dream one should pay attention to what it is trying to show one about the self .This is when the animals medicine meaning should be used as a guide.

Someone may choose to go directly to the medicine cards and seek out their daily, monthly or yearly path , but one would need to know how to select and lay out the animal medicine cards. This is known as spreads .The directions of the cards also have important connotation just as the meaning of each animal medicine card.

Look for the next hub where I will explain as best as I can about spreads and how they work.

I use my Medicine Cards by Jamie Sams daily and have gained so much healing to my soul. It is funny how instinctively I knew many of the power totems that have walked with me since birth and then others surprised me but made so much sense.
