Another Hope for a Future Generation

Updated on October 20, 2010

In my last hub I examined the life of Lynn, a pregnant ,seventeen year old girl who turned into a very lovely woman despite the hardships she dealt with early on in her life. She became a wonderful trophy of God's grace. In this hub I would like to examine the life of Rich, a man given over to pornography.

For several years Rich had been plagued by the use of pornography and in 1997 Rich was arrested for indecent assault--a result of living out his pornographic fantasies.Years later I was able to ask Rich, who by now had become a 40 year old man, to tell me his story.

It seemed that Rich's troubles began when he was a teenage boy. He had gotten involved with a young lady at his high school and it wasn't long until things were getting too heavy. Soon the young woman left Rich for another boy. Rich really cared for her and began to equate having sex with love. After his girlfriend left he needed to continue to have that assurance of love through sexual fantasies.

He had been given a pornographic magazine by someone at the school and sexual fantasy became his everyday release. Each time he was being drawn into sin more and more. When in his fantasy world, he could feel love again. Unfortunately, the love wasn't real, just a cheap imitation thrown out by satan. The fantasies escalated.

Over a period of time Rich became involved with many different pornographic practices that I won't mention here. Each one was gradually getting more involved and intense. To reach the same high bigger risks were taken. Each time Rich was able to get away, giving him a false feeling of power and entitlement. This drove him deeper into his sin.

Finally, in 1997 he was arrested for an attack on a woman outside her home. This was the turning point for Rich. Many thought that he was just reacting to being caught when he tried to show repentance for his actions. Time would tell what was really on Rich's heart.

God stood up for Rich. it is exactly those kinds of sin that Jesus died for. True repentance brings with it a change in lifestyle--a life of serving Christ. I am happy to say that today Rich is a changed man. He went off to Bible College and is now serving God in his local church.

This is just one more reminder that God can use anyone, and that God doesn't give up. He will accomplish His purpose. Don't you give up. Keep following Christ. And if you know any Rich's out there, encourage them to follow Christ as well.

Yes, RevLady said it right. God is always after us and I think that's a good thing because I must confess I'm not after God.

It never fails too amaze me that God has cast all our repented sins into the sea of forgetfulness, and remembers them no more!

      A M,

As Paul said, I am what I am by the grace of God. Any of us could be taken in any sin at any time. And God is always there when we come to Him. Thanks for checking in.

Thanks for sharing this lesson in conversion. Everyone has weaknesses, behaviors, thoughts and actions they need to divorce themselves from. Until we get that wake up call - that splash of cold water in the face - we linger on in sin, excusing it, justifying it - heeding it. Every lost sheep that is found is edifying and encouraging for all of us. We all need saving, not just the ones with the "obvious" sins. The conversion of the "obvious" ones should help everyone. Peace.

Jesus came for the lost! He died to give us his righteousness.

Rich is walking in that right standing with God now--and is able to serve humbly all those who come to him with their own weakness and guilt. I am sure he is doing a fine job of helping others find their way too! Thank you for sharing Lifegate!

Yes, GOD is certainly more powerful than anyone or anything. Isn't that wonderful.

It would do us all good to remember where we came from. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks for checking in! You're right. God can't be sold short of anything. Just more to add to our security in Him.

Absolutely. The east from the west is pretty far. To God be the glory!

Yes, we are truly blessed. Thanks for that precious thought!

GIven over to God all our sins are so small when He has forgiven them. They are gone as far as east is to the west, in the sea of His forget fullness, what an amazing God we serve.

None of us began with God. He found us at different points in our lives and under different circumstances. He did not give up on any of us who came to accept Him as our Lord and Savior and allowed Him to turn our lives around. All glory to God!

I cannot be critical of those who are lost and whom God has not yet found because I remember from where God brought me. I simply reach out in His love and let God work in that person's life in His own time and in His own way.

Love and joy in Him dear friend,

      Forever His,

lifegate, I have been in close contact with some people who were not always doing the right thing for many years, now they are truly into GOD and all the Faith that comes with it. I have said it before, GOD is more powerful than anyone or anything.
