Aquarius Rising Explained

Updated on September 1, 2011

If you were born with your ascendant in the sign of Aquarius, this is the astrological mask you will project when meeting new people and going into new situations. Your sun sign is important as well, of course, but there will be times when your rising sign takes precedence. An Aquarius ascendant isn't as strong an influence as an Aquarius sun, obviously, but you will have many characteristics in common with your sun cousins. Fore more information on how this rising sign will affect your life, see below!

Universal Friends

My best friends and closest allies have always, always been Aquarians. I don't set out looking for them, and I'm not quite sure how it is that we always end up together, but I've known enough of them by now to realize they are absolutely the universal friend. What do I mean by that? Well, I'm basically saying that these folks are able to get along well with anyone, no matter their sun sign, personal background or any other factor you could imagine that might influence someone's decision to make friends with another person. He or she is simply so tolerant of other personalities that very little puts them off, thus making them the universal friend you can always count on.

Classic Laid Back Aquarius

I'm pretty sure no one is more go-with-the-flow than an Aquarius. In the case of an Aquarius ascendant, these people will be very similar, but only to the extent their sun sign will allow. For example, a Scorpio sun / Aquarius rising combination might seem affable and laid back in most situations, but if you push them past their level of tolerance, Scorpio is going to step up to the plate and take you on headfirst. Heck, even an Aquarius sun has a limit, even if they're rather congenial about letting you know when you've surpassed it. The point is, don't be fooled into thinking he or she is a pushover just because they seem to let you get away with things other people wouldn't allow -- the key thing to remember is that they are allowing you to do so, and at some point it's going to grow old!

Flaky in Love

These people take a long time to decide how they feel about you, and if you want to take things to the next level with this rising sign, you're probably going to have get clever and move past their rising sign to communicate with their sun or moon sign, whatever they might be. Of course, if those also happen to be in Aquarius you had better be prepared for a lengthy road between the getting to know you phase and falling in love, because he or she takes a very long time to make their mind up about how they feel, and pushing them to make a decision usually results in pushing them away completely. So if you're dating this rising sign, be sure to pack your patience!
