Archangel Cassiel And Magical Correspondences

Updated on November 23, 2011

Archangel Cassiel is one that many have not heard of if you are one that are not familiar with the archangels. The four most known ones are Gabriel, Uriel, Michael and Raphael. Cassiel isn't particularly known and this is because this Angel is said to have watched events more than anything, barely ever interfering but just because he is known for observing, mostly, does not mean that this archangel cannot prove to be useful for he too as many associations like the other archangels.

Cassiel's celestial title is Father Of Time. If you'd prefer to call him this over Cassiel than you may. He will answer to any of his names. His Hebrew name is Kafziel, similar to the one we mostly know him by and his Egyptian names are Nepthys and Horus. Again any of these names can be used in a ritual or a spell. Choose the one that feels right to you.

Cassiel is one of the angel's that's month is unclear however his day is Saturday and his hours like the others are the 1st and 8th hours of the day and 3rd and 10th hours of the night. Now these just happen to be the best times that you can incorporate him into your rituals. You may incorporate Cassiel any time you choose except it is said that it is best to avoid working with him on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. I know that those are a lot of days but you can still work with him on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Again Saturday is still the best time.

Cassiel is of the element Earth therefore his direction his North. I, personally, never used Cassiel in order to open a circle but he is still an option.

He is associated with the tarot card The World or Universe. However he has been known to be depicted on the card known as The Hermit usually carrying a staff or holding a lantern. He is always depicted as an old man for the angel Cassiel is said to look aged.

The animals that correspond with him are Earth Worms, Crows, Ravens and Crocodiles.

Cassiel has many fruits that can correspond with him. Any kind of dried fruits can be placed on your alter as an offering when incorporating him into your workings. Plum, pomegranate, and Tomato Fruit can be placed there as well.

Certain trees are said to be associated with this archangel of time. The alder tree, beech, cypress, all evergreen trees, oaks and yew.

Herbs and flowers can also be incorporated into your workings with this angel, whether they include spells or rituals. These include Aconite, Ash, Belladonna, Coltsfoot, Deadly Nightshade, Hellebore, Henbane, Houseleek, Ivy, Hemlock, Hemp and Wolfsbane.

Angels also are said to govern over certain body parts. With Cassiel this includes the left leg and the Excretory System.

If you plan on doing any kind of writing when working with this archangel black ink and white paper are the best to use.

There are three deities that are corresponded to him. The Ancient Egyptian God Set, who is said to be the God of deserts, storms and foreigners. The Titan/ Deity Cronus of Greek Mythology and last but not least Balder who is of Norse Mythology.

You may want to include Cassiel in spells that have the intent of property, land, houses, and or your home. Anything to do with older people and even Karma. If there is a spell about Poverty or Astral knowledge this angel is the one for you. Cassiel is the angel to use too if you intend on doing a spell for farming, examinations or esoteric knowledge. This is a great angel to use on the day of Saturday if you plan to work with reincarnation, the Mysteries, wisdom and or long term projects. He is also an angel to ask for help if you are dealing with death, disease or pests. If you are working with spirit communication, meditation, psychic attack or defense then incorporating Cassiel may be a good boost to your spell. He is also great with working with spells for searching for lost things and miss persons, building, life, boundaries and of course last but not least time.

Archangel Cassiel is not one that I include to opening my circle but he is one I will ask for help from time to time. He is one of wisdom. Usually I will go to the Goddess Sophia for that, however Cassiel is another that is great with wisdom and knowledge and will aid you just as well. I hope these associations will come to some help for you if you are into this kind of thing like I am but if you are not I hope that you have at least found it to be interesting to know that you can indeed add angels into Paganism.

I was born on a late Saturday and know Cassiel is welcomed into my life along with Michael, Jesus and my spirit guide...Black Wolf because they listen and help with positive end results based on the trinity created by Christ...

No, thank you for clearing that up. I am Roman Catholic, but grew up in a household where the Virgin Mary, Jesus and the Holy Spirit were key to salvation. It has only since I've gotten older that I've taken an interest to archangels, cherubs and seraphim.

      Thank you for the clarification.

Well in catholic believes as well as Pagan beliefs this means that this is a great day to go to for ex. Cassiel on a Saturday, with certain problems that may be associated with the angel. Now, not all Catholics follow this belief. Gnostics as well believe that the associated day with an angel is the day you go to that angel regarding whatever problems that correspond with that angel. For example with Cassiel you may go to him with things regarding, property, home, poverty, anything like I've mentioned up above. Some choose to pray to him while Pagans will do certain rituals in that nature incorporating that angel into the rituals. Hopefully I answered your question instead of confusing you. Lol. Thank you for reading.

Yay another often forgotten angel. Maybe you can help me with a question I have regarding Cassiel. I've read here and other places that he is the angel of Saturday, but I am unsure what that entails or means. If it isn't too much trouble can you help clarify the significance between an Angel and it's associated day, in this case Saturday.

Glad I have opened your mind Daniella, that is my intention after all when I write these hubs. I hope for others to come to realize they can indeed incorporate angels within their rituals and spells. Thank you for voting up.

Great hub! I rarely think of archangels when I think of deities to work with, but you have opened my mind. :P Voted up!
