Who or What is Archangel Michael?

The name Michael has been interpreted as "one who is like God."

The word archangel traces back to the Greek word archangelos,, with arch having been adapted in Old English as a person with authority over others, plus "angel."

In the Bible, Michael is mentioned in the books of Joshua and Daniel. He is casually referred to in Genesis, Numbers, 2 Kings, and Revelation (Apocalypse).

Christian tradition places him as the head of the angels, a commander-in-chief, through whom all other angels direct their service to mankind. He is the patron saint of soldiers and policemen. Archangel Michael was the spirit to whom medieval knights prayed before going into battle. Michael is a guardian and protector.

The Rosary

The rosary traditionally is a series of prayers for which beads are used as counters. Said over a period of nine consecutive days, the rosary becomes a novena.

For the following CD, however, one follows along with a booklet. The recitation takes approximately one hour to do and is available at devotional, intermediate, and advanced paces.

Archangel Michael's rosary begins with an invocation, "O Light of the Ancient of Days, Send to us now the luminous presence of thy beloved Archangel Michael."

The words are uplifting, noble, and bold. The names all the archangels are invoked. Terms from Eastern religions are used as well. Words to hymns are included. There are nine places, or inserts, where the devotee may state his or her petition, the purpose of the rosary stating the problem(s) to which he or she would like the angels' attention directed.

The heart of the rosary has the "Salutations to the Nine Celestial Choirs," which make up the hierarchy, or order, of Heaven. These are Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominions, Powers, Virtues, Principalities, Archangels, and Angels.

The Salutations are interspersed with prayers and a wonderful, 40-line "Judgment Call, They Shall not Pass!" dictated by Jesus Christ that partly states:

By the authority of the cosmic cross of white fire it shall be:

That all that is directed against the Christ

within me, within the holy innocents,

within our beloved Messengers,

within every son and daughter of God

Is now turned back . . .

The Salutations are followed by four sections:

  • Dedication to the Four Pillars

  • Deliver Us from All Evil

  • Deliver Us into Thy Presence

  • The Sealing of the Rosary

A contemporary version of Saint Patrick's Lorica is also included prior to the Sealing of the Rosary.

A Traditional Saint Patrick's Lorica (ended with Irish Gaelic)

Overcoming Victimization and Testimony

This rosary, said on a regular basis, puts an end to the feeling of being victimized. It cleans and strengthens one's psychology. If you have problems losing things, feel overwhelmed by world news, or want something you can do to protect children, I highly recommend reciting it as needed in full voice.

Archangel Michael is pledged to assist and protect God's people. According to Ms. Prophet's and Ascended Master Teachings, however, we must call to the angels and invite them into our daily lives because they are not allowed to overstep free will. Also, if we are unwilling to give up our own hatreds and biases, this also limits their service.

My Testimony

I distinctly recall driving in Concord, California, when an unusually strong force filled my right leg to brake and avoid an accident. Thank you, Archangel Michael.

Having lost my only daughter at the time in a busy mall during the Christmas season rush, I felt a strong sense of well-being, in spite of the situation. Thank you, Archangel Michael.

I stop to remember all the military servicemen and women who have come out of hellish battle situations unscathed. Thank you, Archangel Michael.

To date, I have experienced general protection from degenerative diseases and cancers. Thank you, Archangel Michael.

I AM the Guard in Archangel Michael's name.

Thank you for reading and commenting, Arachnea.

Prayer beads help the devotee to keep count of the prayers in a structured service. This is actually an active form of meditation.

I'm glad you found this hub informative.

Very informative. I have spent some time recently researching prayer beads. This is a great addition to that information.

Thank you for reading and commenting, Aesta.

I confess that I don't do as many of these rosaries as I should, but I do vouch for the power of Archangel Michael and this rosary.

Angels love being called upon to serve us--it's their job, and they are able to do it so much better when we pray to, call to, or even think of them for help and express our appreciation.

Keep doing what you're doing. If, by chance, you happen to get in a rosary, great--but believing in them and acknowledging them without the rosary form is powerful and appreciated also.

I do pray to our guardian angels each time we go for a long drive or just for daily help. I believe they are around. I haven't said the rosary and novena for so long now though I grew up doing it.

No, I haven't published any books--just children's shorts, narrative essays, a short feature article, book reviews, and the like. Four of my poems were presumably published by Poetry World in books they were compiling. I rarely keep copies of anything and have never made enough from my writing to make a living.

My advice: write to your heart's content. The publishing market has drastically changed with the Internet and e-books. Except for my experiment with Hub Pages, I really haven't done any internet publishing.

HI, thank you for the extra info, I totally agree with you and you probably know more than I do.

It was just something to share and we are always learning thank you.

I see you have published books, I am so desperately trying to see if my poems are worth even trying to publish but do not know where to start.

If these 2 books I have written so far succeed I also want to write a book of poems based on titles attained from children. I do have 2 in the makes right now.

I so appreciate you following me and taking the time to respond.

Thank you for sharing, Laurie. The difference between "vain repetition" and a purposeful novena is just that -- purpose. If our emotions and thoughts are not in harmony with spirit, then, indeed, it is vain repetition.

But, it's like anything else--you have to walk before you can run. So, we are all at various stages of development. Our perfection unfolds as we practice.

The Holy Spirit is included In this rosary. And, it is my understanding that Michael does not respond to calls without God's name, I AM. ***

      hi there how are you

This is a beautiful hub and all hubs about Angels or anything that touches the heart I love to read.

However not sure I do believe in these novena's its like getting a chain letter.

I believe in Angels have even heard their voices, but they are send through the Holy Spirit, when he wants and we are to pray to God for the Angels. No one is allowed to be called or come without permission. They are what you can call Gods army.

Arch Angel Michael is a protector this I know. However to call on him we must first call on the Holy Spirit as we know he/God directs everything even what we do in our path. He does what ever he wants although sometimes I do not understand him and get very upset, he needs not be justified.

God usually can come himself when called and will, but as we see/read in the bible days he sends his Angels/Army.

I myself am fascinated with St. Teresa , I have a whole page dedicated to her on Pinterest.

I did my research and left info on her work. She usually leaves red roses or signs of when a prayer is/will be answered, however like all Angels and ascendant masters she herself answers to God.

She is a miracle worker and has been known to cure diseases. She was one of the first Saints to be known as a miracle worker actually.

She says that we do not need to sit and repeat our requests and ask over and over and do any novenas (although popular) we just need to speak directly to God what is in our hearts.

I was in a bad accident and was send Angels to protect me and drive me home. I actually told my story on a hub.

There are so many Angels and I actually once researched that they have no names, you just name them what pops in your head.

I asked long ago who was my guardian Angel (as we are all assigned one) and the name was loud and clear marie.

So not sure where the names come from, I think it was tradition that carried on throughout centuries.

Michael is known as the protector through and since there is an Angel for every incident, I am guessing that names were looked up and Michael being a protector was then given to the Angel that we feel is protecting us.

However given many dreams and visions through the holy spirit myself calling out Angels without permission is open to calling the "fallen" ones.

Not sure I also believe in the fallen Angels, I think that it just is a form of evil that some of us succumb to the temptations in life that we all endure at times in our lives.

However you do say that cancer has left you and you found your daughter and I strongly believe you and am happy it was solved.

I do believe that Angels come when called, and I think God heard your prayers and send his Angel that you believe in so much.

You have to remember, only God can heal/cure/walk on water which astonishes me and well as we know raise the dead miraculous.

IF we believe anything is possible and if we can walk on water its only because we believe and are send the power to do so.

Its like your child being trapped under a car, well for some reason you find amazing strength to lift the car and pull your child out. We are send help to do so.

When you gut gives you feeling, it is an underlying message that come from above.

I use to call on Angels myself but through gifts received and research I have come to realize that only God can do what he wants when he wants.

The rosary is awesome and miraculous , I had one but lost it quite some time ago, I love it and there is nothing wrong with praying on the rosary. My grandmother did and generations on.

But I think all that is needed is the "our father" as he knows what we want in life anyway.

      Many Blessings
