Some of God's Angels

An Archangel means an angel of God of high rank. Archangel's are associated with Christianity, Islam, Judaism. In Christianity, there are seven Archangels of The Lord. Although most Archangel's are good, Lucifer was an Archangel that fell from God's graces and started a war in Heaven. There are other Angels that may be even closer to God and those are the Cherubim and the Seraphim. This is just a short list but, there are many other Angels that are in Heaven besides the ones listed below. This is a very short list to be sure in comparison to all the Angels in the high heavens. The only and best resource for studying and reading about angels, is The Bible.

Some people believe that their family members are carried to heaven and God uses them as angels. It could be possible if the person who passed is a Christian.

Please feel free to share your thoughts on this article or Angels in general by posting comments at the bottom of this article.

Gabriel:
Gabriel is mentioned twice in the Bible, once in The Old Testament and once in The New Testament. In The Old Testament, he is talked about in the book of Daniel. In The New Testament, he appears to The Virgin Mary and Zechariah, where the Angel foretold the births of Jesus and John The Baptist. This is recorded in the Gospel Of Luke. Gabriel was a very important Angel for God as he was the Angel who visited Mary and told her of Jesus' birth. The name Gabriel means Man of God. Gabriel along with Michael are the most known Angels throughout the world and they are depicted often in film and in books. You can never go wrong with the best place to read the story of Gabriel, is the Bible.

Michael:

He is an Archangel. According to the book of Revelation in The Holy Bible, he lead the war in Heaven among the Angels and defeated Satan. The story of Micheal is followed by Jews, Christians and the Islamic religion as well. The name Michael means who is equal to God. There are masterpieces painted and in stained glass that depict this angel. Then there are a lot of different paintings, artwork and sculptures depicting Michael the Archangel.

Raphael:

Raphael is one of the main characters in the book of Tobit. Raphael is honored in Islam and Christianity. He is also mentioned in John Milton's book, Paradise Lost. The name means God's healing. Raphael goes to God and pleads our case as far as our healing. Healing of our bodies and minds. If there was no one acting as someone who communicates to God for us, then there would not be any healing. Can you imagine the chaos? I am thinking of healing of the mind. There was one of the scriptures that has been removed for some reason from some Christian Bibles but, it is included in Catholic Bibles and Doctrine.

Uriel:

Each angel has an important role to play and Uriel is no different. This angel's name means Fire of God. He is mentioned in the Book of Enoch. He is also identified as an Angel of Repentance and a Cherub. He is not discussed often but, he is mentioned and defended in the Christian Bible.

Sealtiel:

This name means prayer or intercessor of God. His special attributes seem to be prayer. He is always depicted in humble prayer, always looking down. He is also known as an intercessor between God and man. If there was not an intercessor between God and man, we would not be able to communicate with God. This angel does just as his name implies that he pleads our case with God. He is the angel who was in the Old Testament who kept Abraham from killing his son Isaac on the mountain.

Barachiel:

This angel's name means blessing of God. In the book of Enoch, it is told that the angel has four hundred ninety six thousand ministering angels before him. He is also known as the angel of lightning. This angel is also known as the Chief of the Guardian Angels. This is an interesting combination of tasks put on this angel by God.

Jegudiel:
This one means Glorifier of God. He is one of the seven Archangels. He is often pictured as holding a crown. The crown that he holds is a symbol for hard work and spiritual labors. This angel glorifies God. He was created by God for his worship.

Angels have been written about, had movies and music made about them and had paintings portraying them for hundreds of years. Angels are talked about in the Bible and there are many stories portraying good and bad.

Angel Hierarchy:

First Sphere- Seraphim, Cherubim and Thrones of Ophanim.

Second Sphere- Dominions, Virtues and Powers.

Third Sphere- Rulers, Archangels and Angels.
