Are Lucifer and Satan the Same Entity? The Devil Is in the Details
Explaining Lucifer and Satan
It's a question commonly asked of virtually all that work in daemonolatry, (also called demonolatry)--"are Lucifer and Satan the same entity?" And as is so often the case in serious and frequently asked questions within magick, there is no one correct answer. If you were told either "yes, the two are the same," or "no, the two are totally separate entities," you'd have an incomplete, therefore incorrect response.
The truest response would come to you in question form such as--"what do you believe?" And your response would be the closest thing to the truth--for you. It would be remiss not to say, that many consider Lucifer and Satan to be representations of the Devil. This author does not agree with that, as the word devil implies a malevolent nature, that she has not encountered.
You have probably heard it said more than once, that your truth is not my truth; well that is true. As well we could be looking at the same person or object and see it differently. This is how it is too with spirits, but the effect is more pronounced. The point being made here, is that our beliefs overlay the actuality of entities to some degree, which affects the way in which they present to us. Moving forth we will explain this more.
What Kind of Beings Are Satan and Lucifer?
There are various kinds of energy beings that daemonolators and magicians deal with, and that some regular folks deal with from time to time--immortals, spirits, and entities. Lucifer and Satan are immortals.
Side note: the explanation that most magick practitioners agree on, is that an entity is actually a living energy being. Living being defined as that they are in their fullest and most viable form just as they are. And a spirit is the after energy of a being that was previously "alive." Furthermore (unfortunately adding a layer of confusion), "entity" describes each and every energy being apart from their specific type as well.
An immortal cannot die, and cannot be defined more than that. Some claim that this is an entity type, and believe that as immortals cannot die, they must be alive. Others say that it is a spirit type, and say that as immortals cannot die they must already be dead. The truth is that no one knows for sure, thus an immortal is an immortal.
Continued from "what kind of beings..."
All beings that have masses of people believing in them, have an energy stream rather than them being a strictly defined identity (thus this is a prominent and consistent thing with immortals). The energy stream contains everything ever believed about that entity within it, omitting nothing. And when someone has beliefs that are in line with, or that stand against those already present with in the stream; they add to or subtract from the power of certain traits.
Creating a Limited Experience from Existing Beliefs
Hence when a magician begins to work with any specific entity, what they will first see of them is what they draw from their stream that is most in line with their own existing beliefs. If they go with the flow and allow that entity to present more of the truth of themselves, said entity will use their will to exhibit more of their own truth as they define it. Keep in mind though, that the entity's truth will align with the beliefs of the magician on some level. I say on some level, because on top of their overall belief system, additionally whether the sorcerer is more open or closed minded, affects how the entity may present.
If the person is very strict in their beliefs of what said entity should be, then they will remain for the most part much as they initially presented. When you consider it, this is sad. This is a limitation that the magician has imposed upon themselves and their experience, and it's also a prime example of what humans do to each other in society... we force each other to wear masks to fit in, based upon societal beliefs and preferences.
Calling a Dark Being Forth While in a State of Fear
If a person calls such a being forth whilst having significant reservations or in fear, first off, it is a bad mistake, as dark energy beings are made unstable by fear. Fear is something that they totally rebuke, and they act as if they've been set on fire and are running around madly in a sense. Their efforts appear to be directed at getting someone that's so very full of fear, to cast their fear aside.
And though them acting out angrily does not seem like an ideal way to teach us a anything (we'd tend to think it would only compound fear), for those that practice daemonolatry, it's clear to see that without fear there is rarely a problem at all. And furthermore, though dark daemons and deities demand respect, without fear they are primarily benevolent--which is the same way we'd describe the predisposition of most humans. Dark is a way to describe an energy type, rather than a being's behavior.
How to Tell If They Are the Same Being
Now, back to the crux of the matter. It's commonly said that Lucifer and Satan are one and the same, and it's just as common for people to say that it's a fallacy to believe that they are. So how do we discern the truth? Know this--there is no truth. We can even go so far as to say, that it both is and is not true to believe that Satan and Lucifer are biblical figures--this as there are masses that hold each set of beliefs; thus each impression is present in either energy stream, and as well, both energy streams overlap. You see?
Sharing an Experience
Now that we have the facts of the matter straight, this author will share an experience. Satan had come forth during a working that he'd been called in for; he was easily perceptible and stuck around. He was noble and offered guidance, and was kind, friendly, and fatherly. However, Lucifer was also an entity of interest, and I'd been working to contact him and could not do it. At one point in meditation Lucifer responded, and said that if it was that much of a blockage to communicate with him, to simply see he and Satan as one.
This was confusing information, as previously, to me they were indeed absolutely separate beings, and could not be the same. But his advice was taken (by the way, Lucifer is just as commonly a she). Thereafter Lucifer commonly appeared, and Satan more or less faded away (but will come if called upon--most often as Baphomet). There is some sort of message right there, but you can decide what it means to you.
Two amazingly benevolent beings, that support those who call them forth; Lucifer and Satan are as much separate as they are united as one. However you choose to see and appreciate them, is entirely up to you.
If you would really like to meet one of them or any dark being, but are not sure whether or not you can control your fear, tell them that you are going to try your best and ask them to understand if you have some issue meeting them without fear. They are willing to work with us when we try. By the way, it is not recommended for people with mental health issues to summon dark beings.
