Are We Greater than Angels?

Paul David Silway is the Founder & Senior Pastor of Jesus Is Lord Ministries based in Maharashtra, India.

A pastor was trying to state how blessed we born again Christians are as children of our Father in heaven. One of the concluding statements which he made was, “As children of our Father, you are actually GREATER than angels because you will judge angels.” (referred from 1 Corinthians 6:3)

This is what Holy Spirit has to say

Know that our Father in heaven has assigned angels for His children, and they have become our close friends.

This is what Holy Spirit would like to ask me

Do you ever feel that you are greater than the ministering angels?
Do you ever have the desire to judge or command your guardian angels?

No, the guardian angels that our Father has assigned for us are our friends. They love and care for us. They are always with us whether we are awake or sleeping. They are our Father's expression and extension of love and care. I do not have any desire to judge or command them like I do not have any desire to judge or command my wife, family, brothers and sisters in the Lord, and my friends.

I still believe the Bible where it is stated that we humans were created to be a LITTLE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS IN RANKING, and when Christ was living in His human body named Jesus, He too was a little lower than the angels (Psalm 8:3-5). I appreciate the opportunity of knowing our ministering/guardian angels as friends even though they were created greater or in higher ranking than I am.

If you ask the angels, who have been assigned for your care to this planet earth by our Father, they would say, “We appreciate knowing you as a friend, and we are glad that our friendship can exist forever.”

When Angel Day Star, whom we now know as Lucifer or Satan, wanted to raise his ranking, he and several other angels tried to exalt themselves above the Throne of Our Father. Our Father, the Creator, did not permit this to happen and Angel Day Star and his followers became fallen angels. This means they are now of a lower ranking than at the time they were created.

A Very Important Factor to Note at this Point

When Angel Day Star let pride become part of his being, it hindered his worship to our Father. In fact, in his case, he wanted to be worshipped rather than worshiping the Creator. Even if a person is a born again Christian, if he lets the quality of pride slip into his life, he will not have true worship in his heart nor give forth a true fruit of worship.

Day Star has never lost his desire to be worshiped. So, when our Father created us human beings, Satan started to take over the natural world so that he would have some people to worship him. He began this process by deceiving Adam and Eve into disobeying our Father. He began to refer himself as the prince of the world or the prince of the power of the air. When Christ was crucified on the Cross, it appeared that Satan had defeated Christ and was now ruler of our Father's creation. But when Christ was resurrected, it became obvious that Satan was the one who was really defeated.

Now, there is not any reason for born again Christians to be under the influence of Satan, but there is nothing that can stop Satan from influencing a person who refuses to become a born again Christian. Holy Spirit has lead us to several verses of the Scripture in preparation for this message.

And you [hath he quickened], who were dead in trespasses and sins;... (Ephesians 2:1)

Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: (Ephesians 2:2)

Citizenship of Angels

Just as we humans have citizenship of the country we are born in, angels too hold citizenship in the spirit realm. Well, there are only two kinds of citizenship available in the spirit realm i.e. citizenship of heaven and citizenship of hell.

As for angels, the good (holy) ones hold the citizenship of heaven while the bad (evil) angels, including Satan and demons, have the citizenship of hell. Those angels who rebelled against our Father were banished into hell while the faithful ones maintained their citizenship of heaven.

Since Christ’s Resurrection, Satan is Only the Prince of the Power of the Air to Those Who Refuse to Accept Him as Their Personal Savior

Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged (John 16:11). In this verse, Holy Spirit inspired it to be written that Satan and his demons have already been judged. The next references state when he was judged.

Jesus answered and said, "This voice came not because of Me, but for your sakes." (John 12:30)

Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. (John 12:31)

And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all [men] unto me. (John 12:32)

Why do Demons Live in Fear and Trembling?

Satan was Judged Through the Cross/Resurrection Event of Christ

Know ye not that we shall judge angels? How much more things that pertain to this life? (1 Corinthians 6:3)

Actually, this is not only something that is to happen in the future, but should also be happening now. In the idea of judgment, the judge is always in the superior position or ranking. This judging of angels that you should be doing as a born again Christian is only of Satan and fallen angels, not of the good angels.

The reason that we born again Christians can be judging Satan and fallen angels is that they have fallen to a ranking that is below us human beings. In this judgment, we are realizing and telling Satan of the judgment that took place of him and the fallen angels in the Cross/Resurrection event. As a born again Christian, you can keep telling Satan and his demons that you have authority over them because they are now of a lower ranking than you.

Angels Address You as Prince/Princess

Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? (Hebrews 1:14)

Note that the angels ministering to you are sent by our Father. It means that they are under His assignment to minister to you. It also means that they are under His authority.

And hath made us kings and priests unto God and His Father; to Him [be] glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (Revelation 1:6)

This tells us that as a born again Christian, in the Millennial Kingdom, you will be a priest to our Father and a king to human beings living on planet earth. Be also reminded that as a born again Christian, you are a prince who someday will become a king. That is why, sometimes, angels in the spirit realm are addressing me as Prince Paul rather than Pastor Paul.

Just as you born again Christians address each other as “brother” or “sister” in the Lord, it would be proper for you to address each other as “prince” or “princess”. Beware, Satan will try to tempt you to have some pride in this matter and when pride is present, there cannot be true worship and real fruit of worship.

What Do You Think?

Now that you have learned about angels, do you still consider them inferior to you as a born again Christian?
