Are You Stuck In Darkness?

Updated on March 28, 2018

Are You Afraid of the Dark?

I remember the show "Are you afraid of the dark", from when I was a kid. The ghost stories they would tell and how I felt like I was right there with them. I was for sure afraid of the dark when I was younger and honestly can say now that there are times I am not only afraid of it, but stuck in it. Stuck in a season that seems never ending. A season that has not shifted in the slightest. Is that you today? There is a light shining so bright in you that is begging to burst through the layers. That light is Jesus Christ.

Jesus is our light

Jesus came to save those in bondage and those in darkness. He wants to show you the life He does have for you. The life that is on the other side of a choice. The choice to accept Him as your Lord and Savior and to receive the light that is eternal and rewarding. (Matthew 4:16) Some situations seem so hopeless and un-changing. But God asks us to put our full trust in Him, share our light with the world and not let anyone dim our light.

Let your light shine

There are people in this world that simply put, are not for you and do not want to see you rise to be the man or woman that God has called you to be. They may be envious of your life, envious of your walk or most times, their heart is just not in the right place. It is so crucial to not let any of those people dim the light that is shining in you. The comments they say can be hurtful and discouraging. I can relate to that on such a personal level. But that is an issue between them and God, not you and them. (John 1:5)

Darkness is not your friend

Being overwhelmed with darkness is heart breaking and gut wrenching. When I see people stuck there, I want to desperately do all I can to pull them out and show them what they're missing. Jesus does the saving but we can do the encouraging. Your light can uplift and help someone else and you may not even be aware of it. Darkness is your enemy and light is your friend, your comfort. The enemy would rejoice if you stayed down engulfed in your circumstances. I urge you today to rise out of that pit like the victor you are and CLAIM VICTORY!

Matthew 5:16- "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

What will you choose?

When faced with the choice to stay in darkness or come into the marvelous light that Jesus offers, what would your decision be? Jesus was in darkness right before He rose from the dead. Death's sting was defeated and Jesus will be forever glorified. This walk is not an easy one. There will be set backs and disappointments. But there will always be God and His perfect love. He wants you to live with your light bursting through you like the sun on a hot summer day. Do not let other people win. You are a child of the most high King. It is time to act that way.

John 8:12- "When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life

I encourage you to step out in a whole new way and set yourselves a part from the crowd. It is so tempting to do what everyone else is doing, the "in" thing. I personally believe Jesus is the only "in" thing i want to be associated with. He provides a way out of trouble and a way into grace and mercy. Your past, present and future sins were crucified with Christ on the cross. What a great reminder as we approach Easter. He died so you can live. There is no better relationship than the one He freely offers.

I really like this. You set out a good idea. No doubt you are right.

I always worry about hubs on darkness that the author go so far as to suggest someone who suffers from depression does not know God's light.

      Good job not doing that.
