Week 36

Ask and Receive

“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

- Matthew 7:9 - 11

Looking back yesterday, we can probably remember those times when we are in a situation when something just caught our eye. It hits us the moment we see that we just got to have it and those sort of enthusiasm just comes in on us. Can you recall those early days of your childhood? Can you picture out the child in you that was eager to have maybe the toy that was on display? There were probably a lot that we wished to have in such a scene? It maybe one that our parents have us as company going to the grocery or to the department store. The thing that just recently made it in our wants for the moment had moreover given us a thrill of excitement. As a little kid, there was one thing we were most familiar of. It came in us almost naturally. It was in our nature and it would more likely be even as the days go by. On those early days, we can’t help but ask. We may have gotten on our parents utmost attention by such consistent act yet still be the cute little toddler even so which seems to be all the more fine.

Ask. It is something that we can always do and may be best at it too. To ask means to make what is in us to be known. How can your parents know you want a new bag if you won’t ask? How can you choose which brand it is that fits your liking if in the first place, they don’t know you even need a new one for the moment? And you probably won’t get the thing you’ve wanted to have for Christmas if you won’t give them a clue about it? It is a simple thing yet one of valuable importance. A lot can be made through by such an act and experience may tell us so of it. You can also see other’s in regard to it as well with their own stories to share.

For us, someone has always been there for us even though we have been all grown up. It has been no more with our old toys. We don’t get to run like we used to being as energetic as we may be those days. The little toddler have grown to the person he has now become. Yet even so, the Lord has always been there for us. He has never left us from the beginning. And indeed we have him as the Lord our God who is more than capable to give us the things we ask for.

In this world we live in, we have to take account that a father is someone who usually gives us the things we would like to. We turn to him for the things have in our liking and we cannot neglect it as it hold pretty transparent. As the head of the family, he provides us with the things we need. In certain instances, also with the things we may have want. To have not one but two fathers is such a matter we can be happy for. It fattens the heart in a mere comfortable way in one way or another.

First, we have our biological father. He is the one connected to us by flesh and blood. We have some of his characteristics. We may look alike like him. His accents may have made it through our genes that we even sound like him. The color of his eyes may be the same with ours. His skin color is identical to ours and his liking may be as well in regard to ours. He is someone we can turn to with regard to matters of concern. There may be some school project we have to get done; our shoes just got ruined to the point of no return to a point still usable or we got one of favorite stuffs lost that maybe he can do something about it. In such cases, we ask him. We make it known to him being such a dear father to us.

Second, we have our heavenly father. He is the one which is in heaven. He constantly watches after us. He looks to see that we are in good shape. He cares for us in a way only he fully knows. He is the creator of everything that is in the world. He is the great creator and indeed, he is more than capable to look upon what you ask of him. There are a lot of things he can get us received if we only ask him. He is such a kind father that to thank him In words may not be enough compared to everything he has done for us. We are very fortunate to have him in our lives.

Recently, it just happened to be father’s day. The greetings for such an occasion just spread its way out for fathers all over. Many got to make their own fathers feel special. And certainly, one who is above deserves it all the more. Praises be to him. God Bless You
