The Mythology of Sagittarius

Sagittarius is a common constellation in the night sky of the Southern Hemisphere. The fact the Sagittarius is a hunter gives reason for its bow and arrow pointing towards Scorpius (Scorpio). It can be noted on the Eastern side of the Milky Way.

The Greek mythology associates the depiction of centaur with Crotus the satyr. The centaur has the upper body of a hunter with the lower body of part horse and part goat.

The Roman mthographers are often mistaken when they align the characteristics of the centaur with the constellation known as Centaurus. There is a clear distinction between the two.

Sagittarius is a hunter with mythlology tracing back to the Mesopetomian archer-god Nergal who was often associated with the wrathful God of War named Ira.
