Astrology The Effect From the Planets
Zodiac Signs

Astrological Signs: Interpretation
There are so many ways to interpret an astrological horoscope. Each Astrologer places importance on different venues in the world of the stars.
Here are just a few different ways the Astrologer reads a chart
- Your sun and moon sign in relationship to each other
- Your rising sign
- All the planets in different signs
- The houses where the planets are residing.
- The relationship between different planets
- Fast moving and slow moving planets'
- The different degrees of each sign has significance
- Transits of planets in relationship to your natal chart planets
- Aspects of different planets to each other and the houses they are residing.
- Progressive charts
Most of what I am explaining today will make more sense to you if you have had a chart read or are planning to do so.
In astrology there are no absolutes or true predictions. Trends are apparent and with relationships In life you have free will to make changes and follow your heart in any direction.
Major Planetary Aspects
One of the most fascinating parts of astrology are planetary aspects. The planets in the different signs reside in one of the 12 different houses and have a relationship with each other. Planets can be next to each other or form a variety of different angles. Each angle has special meaning for personality, relationships and future trends.
For example: Mercury is 10 degrees in Libra and Saturn is in Aries (which is directly opposite Libra. Saturn is in Aries at exactly 10 degrees and this forms an exact opposition. This creates a perfect opposition. There can be a difference of 10 degrees in the signs to create the opposition.
A note here: Each planet is in a sign as your sun sign is. You know your sun sign is in one of the 12 signs of the zodiac...Your moon sign is in one of the 12 signs of the zodiac and so on. They are a specific amount of degrees in each sign..up to 30 degrees.
An astrologer checks out all aspects, of the planets in signs including what houses.
Confused yet?
There are minor aspects that the planets have with each other, but here are the major ones.
Conjunct Planets----next to each other in the same sign 10 degrees or less.
Sextile Planets---60 degrees from each other
Square Planets----90 degrees from each other
Trine: Planets----120 degrees from each other
Opposing Planets------ 180 degrees from each other
The Basics: There are 12 signs on the zodiac along with 12 houses and they are 30 degrees apart: Each house contains 30 degrees. Each house is ruled by a sign depending on your particular chart. The natural place for the first house is ARIES as it is the first sign of the zodiac.
Aries is 30 degrees from Taurus and so on throughout the zodiac
So if you have an aspect of Mercury in Aries and Jupiter in Libra they are 180 degrees apart forming an oppositiion.
Aspects are an important part of doing a complete reading.

Conjunct Aspect
This is when two planets are next to each other. This simply means the planets are both in the same signs.
Sun in Aries and Moon in Aries...but Lets say the Sun is 5 degrees in Aries and the moon is 30 degrees in Aries This does not work to form a conjunct aspect as it is more than 10 degrees.
When planets are conjunct this is mostly a positive aspect. And depending on what the planets and houses those are the areas that will be favorable in your chart.
Here is an example: Mercury in Libra at 10 degrees and the Sun is in libra at 5 degrees in your 4th house which is your home life and childhood. This may indicate you had a good childhood and have fond memories of your youth and also a good father figure.
Sextile Aspect of Planets
This aspect occurs when the signs are 60 degrees apart. An example would be Libra and Sagittarius. They are 60 degrees apart on the astrology wheel. The orb is generally less than ten degrees in all cases.
An example would be Mercury is in Libra and Venus is in Sagittarius..with an orb of 10 degrees. This is a favorable aspect meaning good luck, good relationships and favorable outcomes in the house where they reside.

Square Aspect of the Planets
The square aspect is when two planets are at a 90 degree angle--the square. It can show stress, and conflict depending on the particular planets and which houses they fall into. It surprisingly can turn the tide of fortune or create a deterrent to reach a specific goal.
For example lets say: Saturn is in Scorpio on the natal chart in the first house of the wheel.
Mercury is in Aquarius in the 4th house creating a 90 degree angle to Saturn.
The first house is yourself, your goals and who you are.
The fourth house is early home life and the father.
This could mean there were problems growing up in the home with the father.
When I say "could be" there are many other factors to consider before making this statement.
Trine Aspect of the Planets
This is the most favorable aspect of all. It is two planets in signs 120 degrees apart. This is a comfortable place for planets to be in relationship to each other...often representing good fortune, luck and happiness.
For example: Your moon sign of Virgo is in your second house and Mars is in Capricorn in your 5th house. You have your moon sign in the second house which represents money in your life, and and you have Mars in Capricorn house of social life and friendships. You will be blessed with many friends who share your energies and have fun spending money...That is just one small aspect.

Finale
This is a difficult part of astrology to explain. However to me it is one of the most important methods of revealing personalities and relationships.
I am sure that many comments will be coming in that I have been totally confusing. From now on I am going to keep it simple to understand.

O my...so much I did not know. As I read this I kept wondering, 'Carol, did you go to school to learn and understand all of this?' I had NO idea. I read my horoscope but really have not thought much about any thing more than just my sign and what the words were saying for that day.
And I am sure speaking with someone in person would make astrology even less of a mystery than it is.
Angels are on the way. ps
Great hub
Voted up++++
I felt this was easily explained and not confusing. I have been an astrology buff for a long time and enjoyed the read. I am an Aries Sun, virgo rising, cancer moon with Pisces stellium (mars, venus, chiron, mercury)
Hi Carol,
Wow and double Wow, what an excellent explanation as Astrology is so intricate and interesting. You did a fantastic job simplifying what other's write in confusing ways. You are a true professional! Congrats on another interesting Astrology piece, voted up, useful, awesome, interesting, shared everywhere and pinned !
Good explanation of the houses and aspects, Carol. I wondered though about the 4th house denoting father, and the 10th mother - I always took the fourth house (Cancer) to denote mother, and the 10th house (Capricorn) to be father. I'm glad that you're showing your readers how complex and interesting astrology is. I really consider interpreting natal charts to be an art. Voted up and interesting.
Astrology is very interesting but this is a bit tough for me to understand, maybe I need to read it a few times to get the hang of it.
Voted up and of course shared.
Wow. I had no idea that astrology was this complex. When you asked, 'confused, yet?' I was nodding furiously.
You explained it well but I need to read and reread to really understand. Like I said, I had no inkling that there was so much involved.
Very informative, Carol.
Sending Angels your way. Have a lovely week. :) ps
Another great hub by you carol and voted up as always. Enjoy your day.

Carol, this is very interesting and helps me with the chart you did for me. I hope other hubbers are taking advantage of your awesome talent!
great explanation, Carol.
I do agree that our horoscope is based on the ruling planets...explained it well.
Thank you for this hub Carol! It is well explained and as usually, you give a lot of informations; I am always learning a lot.
If you make an e-book, try to find a easy graphic program for all your drawings. I am sure there are some free ones but I don't really know because I am working with Photoshop and Flash since a very long time. If you could create all your drawings with a graphic program, you can than save them as .jpg and you will add quality to your e-book. It's just a suggestion.
Voted up and interesting!
A very informative hub on astrology. This is the first time I have actually sat down and try to understand the concept behind astrology. This is very thought provoking. Now you have left me in a profundity of thoughts! Thanks for sharing. Voted up interesting.
Voted up and interesting. This was a fascinating read. Enjoy your astrology hubs. Passing this on.
I know that you create your charts from a number of tables in books. For example, I was born in Blytheville, AR at 0610(a.m.), and I know that you glean much of your information from this.
Hi Carol. I think you did a great job of explaining all of this. There is a lot to this and you obviously have a great deal of knowledge in this area. Well done.
I vaguely know what you do, but very vaguely.
Wow, this is informative. No one has ever explained this to me better!
An interesting and informative insight to Astrolgy: Planetary Aspects in a Horoscope, and definitelyy ou know what to pint out on this title.
I think you are selling yourself and your knowledge a bit short. I didn't find this confusing at all, mainly because you did such a good job of explaining it in simple terms. Well done, Carol! It is obvious you know what you are talking about.
Happy Easter my friend.
