How To Get Along – Capricorn and Aquarius

The Goat and the Water Bearer

This series on AstroCompatibility will cover all of the potential matchups in the Zodiac. We will continue this series thinking about and commenting on The Goat and The Water Bearer. You can get an EBOOK of all 12 matchups of any sun sign at For new info on the Cosmos and the Future go to Christofer's New Website:

Capricorn - Aquarius

Aquarius is Air and Fixed. Capricorn is Earth and Cardinal. When you observe these wintery signs moving next to each other, you tend to ask, where would these highly stylized individuals meet and have a strong meeting of the minds, or better stated – needs. Their ruling planets – Saturn and Uranus, in the symbolic world of astrology, declare strongly felt compelling drives. Aquarius, the love of freedom and bold self expression, contrasted with Capricorn, the detail oriented, ambitious, strangely compulsive Goat. The recommendation you will see throughout this series is that “transportation and transformation” is sometimes the key. Do these two love each other because they are going to take each other to: “new places and change them in new ways”. First, individual charts should be cast so that they will have as much astrological information as possible about each other. But, this series is not about why people don’t like each other, but what they can find in each other, if they are compellingly attracted to one another.

Capricorns are conservative, dignified and preservative of the status quo. Aquarians are not sedate, nor loving of the status quo. They specialize in being in a constant state of unrest, and crowing about how the world will be different if their prescriptions are followed. One of the problems with this combination is that Capricorn officially does not think “genius” is really genius. They view it as an opinion or a widely believed PR release. And if they do accept the label, they still have trouble wondering how and why the state of being a genius affects their personal lives positively; (unless there is a big money prize for winning an award). Capricorn likes hard reality. They don’t “cotton” to seeing an ambiguous world of duality. If something is both this and that, then it is just confused. So, what is it that brings them together and causes a magnetic compulsion to be with each other? Like other combinations, it is what they are in admiration of, and what they need, that draws each to the other. The Aquarian can be a pretty impressive person in their full blow expansiveness and break through style. A Capricorn, caught in its controlled world can feel sometimes small in the face of a unique Aquarian. This can be exciting. The Goat can ask themselves – “What do they know that I don’t know.” The Aquarian, way out there all the time, hanging on the edge of a revolutionary thought and strung out on pure intuition, can often be desirous of a strong practical person. What they feel an inner drive for is not more of their own airy blustery storm of energy, but focused, productive energy that can smile at them at home and bring just a little bit of admiration.

Positive Postulate: Capricorn’s fascination for Aquarius could put the twinkle and glow in the Goat’s eyes. This could normalize the Aquarian in the eyes of others, and maybe even make it do some changing itself. Capricorn’s quality of control could be rather high, gearing the two toward stable functions and less wild settings for entertainment. But the Goat might be a little more “streamlined” than the average mountain-climbing Capricorn. Their shy twinkles could be turned to big grins. Their humor would have greater opportunity for self expression as the mate, associate, buddy or friend of the Aquarian. What we might get is an expansive Goat and a controlled Aquarian. It could work?!

Romance Recommendation: Aquarians can have a wandering eye and a sense of “across a crowded room” kind of encounter. The “I felt their presence” way of living could make Capricorn jealous. They might be even more jealous than they usually are. Keeping a boundary in this relationship might be what is attempted. This would always be a challenge, but true love finds a way. This is what success in romance is made of.

Conflict Quotient: Conflict could arise because the Capricorn agenda was being violated (financial, social scenes, family priorities) or because Aquarius was finding it difficult to be happy with a life style that might be a little “cramped”. Capricorn’s style in conflict could be quite biting. Aquarius would feel outraged or mistreated, and then express loud dismay.

Peace Parlay: Life in the end is repetitive and mundane, and so is Romance itself. This factor asks the question: "Can we be bored together over the long term?" Capricorn would feel bored, or lost, if Aquarian took up new schedules. Aquarius would probably not feel bored, especially inside its own head.

Keep Up The Interest Graph: Capricorn, very up and social evolution and stylish would know the newest. Its conservatism might make the new wait to be a little less new. Aquarius would be out there trying to invent and describe the new to their friends and professional associates.

Seven Year Itchiness: There are some signs that by their nature are more stable in their love interests and family concerns as time goes on. Others are not. Capricorn would see the 7 year itch as a major potential problem to the Goat’s upward ascent on its predictable path. It could stray, but only because of deep disappointment driving it out of its zone of comfort. Aquarius, though expansive and freedom loving would hopefully treasure the intimacy that the two have captured over the years.

ASTROCOMPATIBILITY POSSIBILITY RATING: 60% Positive Long Term - 70% Short Term. Capricorn could cast an eye of admiration at dynamic Aquarius and find a fiery encounter. As they learned about each others’ individuality, they could then compartmentalize their aspects and find a union that was magically designed just for them.
