Noah's Story

God's prophet Noah, builds an ark, on the command of God. In the Old Testament, in the book of Genesis it tells the story of how God is going to destroy all of man-kind because of their evil deeds. God has had enough of man's sinful ways and tells Noah that he is going to destroy the world by flood. So, God instructs Noah to build an Ark and take two of every kind of animal and species on earth. God told Noah to bring two of all the animals so, that after the flood is over the animals can reproduce and have babies to replenish the earth after the flood waters recede. The Ark had to be built to very strict specifications that were given only by God. He instructed Noah to do exactly as he directed so that the Ark would be able to withstand the flood waters that would come.

Noah was made fun of by his friends and neighbors. He begged them to come aboard more than one time. He would tell them that the Lord was going to destroy the earth by flood. They kept on making fun of him because at the time, it wasn't raining. Noah gave one last plea for his people to come aboard. No one took him up on the offer. He had aboard his family and the animals. They laughed until it started raining. God sealed the door shut. Once they realized that Noah was right about the rain, they really regretted that they couldn't get on the Ark. God destroyed the world by flood. He promises us he will never do that again. The rainbow that we see today is a symbol of God's promise to us.

Now there is a life-size Noah's Ark that is a replica that can be toured by the public. This opened in 2016. It has been somewhat controversial.

Different Looks At Noah's Ark

Attractions based on Noah's Ark:

Noah's Ark Zoo Farm:: This is an animal park in the United Kingdom with scenery set up to resemble Noah's Ark.

Noah's Ark in Hong Kong, Japan: This park in Japan has a full-sized replica of The Ark from the Bible.

Noah's Ark Water Park: This water park is located in Wisconsin, in the United States and is themed after Noah's Ark.

Television and Movies:

1. Evan Almighty (2007): Steve Carell reenacts Noah, as he is told by Morgan Freeman who plays the role as God. He tells Evan Almighty that he should build The Ark to save his family the animals, friends, and even strangers. My favorite scene would be when the waves came but, The Ark withstood the waves. In this movie, the onlookers made fun of Evan Almighty for making such a large boat and especially when, there is no rainfall at the current time. When the rain started falling, he began to look smart in the eyes of his peers. After the door to the ark is sealed shut by God, it can not be opened from the outside. The people who were drowning and wanted to be saved from the flood waters, had now, waited too late.

2. Noah's Ark-Animated Film (2007): This film tells the Bible story in computer generated animation style film. All of the animals in this film, just seem to jump off the screen out at you.

3. Noah's Ark-TV Movie (1999): The film stars John Voight as Noah and it tells the story found in Genesis of The Holy Bible about the building of The Ark and how Noah got made fun of by his peers and he kept right on going. There are lots of lessons to be learned from Noah's Ark. Noah was a very wise man and because he listened to God, he and his family were saved. They received many blessings for being obedient.

4. Noah's Ark Video Game for the Nintendo and it was only released in England (1992): This was the first and only video game based solely on the story of Noah's Ark. It is loosely based, on The Bible's Old Testament story.

Old Testament: Noah and The Book of Genesis

In Genesis 6 verses 1-8 the wickedness of man is discovered and God decides to destroy all of man kind. In verses 9-22 of the book of Genesis chapter 6, God instructs Noah to build an Ark and Noah follows God's commandment to him.

Noah's Ark Used In Decorating

The Noah's Ark design has become very popular over the past few years. It is taught to children in early learning books.

This Noah's Ark designs that I have seen in a blanket one, is very soft looking designs and the other one is more of an old fashioned looking, darker colors. So, it would just depend on your preference as to what you would need to match the room.

Which brings us to another point that many babies nurseries are done in the design of Noah's Ark. There's also the Noah's Ark mobile for the baby to look at while he or she, is in their crib.

At the Christian bookstore there are books and movies on Noah's Ark that you can use if you are a teacher in your church or just give the books as a gift to your student in class when he or she does a good job.

"Oh, them silly Unicorns!" from "The Unicorn Song" by the Irish Rovers about why the unicorns missed the Ark. Check it out if you aren't familiar with it.

Seriously, there are some old Summerian records that give modern scholars the idea that Noah wasn't just a righteous, but uneducated man. In fact they believe that he was an engineer educated by the "Gods" on earth at that time. Whether it fits in with Christian beliefs or not, it is an interesting theory and spreads more light on how he was able to build the ark.

Interesting hub, Leslie, and very fitting since Noah's Ark themes seem to be very popular in decorating for children right now. Voted up+.
