Bible Passages That Guide Me and How They Will Help and Protect You
Praise be to Jesus. Hi! You may call me Jo. I am the father of two children. In my Hubs, I will be reproducing passages from the Holy Bible that are guiding me in my life. I will then give my thoughts and views on those passages. And how they have influenced me, blessed me, protected me, guided me etc. I sincerely hope my writings will help you the reader also. If you find my writings helpful, please let me know here and my Email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
Bible Passage For The Day
"Israel, remember this! The Lord- and the Lord alone- is our God. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Never forget these commands that I am giving you today. Teach them to your children. Repeat them when you are at home and when you are away, when you are resting and when you are working. Tie them on your arms and wear them on your foreheads as a reminder. Write them on the door-posts of your houses and on your gates." DEUTERONOMY 6: 4-9. The Bible in Today's English Version.
These are the words of Moses talking to the people of Israel while on their journey through the desert. DEUTERONOMY is a Book of the Old Testament .
How This Passage Can Guide and Protect You
I am a practicing Christian and do read the Bible. But this particular passage entered my life in a really meaningful, practical and protective way some twelve years back when I took part in a prayer meeting at one of my friend's house. The lady who was leading the prayer that day read this particular passage from the Bible and gave a talk for a few minutes. I do not exactly remember what she said that day. But these are some of the thoughts and views I have on this passage and how I have used these in a practical way.
Let us study the Bible passage in a bit of detail. The part which I have marked in Bold and Italics is the command. "The Lord- and the Lord alone- is our God. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength." In my view this is not just a command but a very powerful prayer. And Moses is asking his people (again in my view, all of mankind) never to forget, repeat again and again, teach the children and keep this command/prayer on your body and surroundings.
As such, for this prayer to be a COMPLETE AND FULL BLESSING IN ALL ITS GLORY one has to do all these. But let us start with a smaller step and a step which i would like to stress here. And that part is the one that says keep this command/prayer on your body. This is the part which I have followed for more than twelve years and one that has been a great protection to me. What I am trying to say is this.
Write down this bible passage in a small piece of paper. ALWAYS keep this (let us name it THE PRAYER) very near you whenever you go out of your home. One may keep it in a purse, hand bag, your shirt pocket (as I do), school bag etc. And do try to say THE PRAYER at least when you get up in the morning and before you go to bed. You may or may NOT be a practicing Christian or even a non Christian. But I say this THE PRAYER is for ALL. We have got all of 24 hrs. everyday. What I am asking you to do will take less than five minutes. Keep THE PRAYER with you and say it at least twice a day. I am sure you will see the results.
I say with all conviction that THE PRAYER is a great Protective Shield from God. This I have felt all these years. THE PRAYER will cover you within its protective shield from accidents, fear and many kinds of evil.
Let me conclude by saying as they say PLEASE DO TRY THIS AT HOME. God bless you.
