10 Bible Verses For Bad Days - Inspiration and Encouragement From Scripture
For Everything, A Season
We know from the Book of Ecclesiastes (or The Byrds song, take your pick) that “there is an appointed time for everything, and a time for every affair under the heavens.” (Eccl 3:1). We are told that there is both a “time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance” (Eccl 3:4). I know that most of us can see the truth in this statement. That most of our lives have included mourning, laughing, dancing, and weeping, tears and smiles, pain and triumph.
I also know that some of those weeping days look so dark you don’t believe you’ll laugh again. That there are days when words like these would make you want to laugh in frustration, instead of saving your laughter for a day of joy. Trust me I’ve been there. I’ve had days where the darkness looms so big that I wonder if I’ll ever see the light at the end of the tunnel again. I’ve had depression stare me in the face, and had moments of crippling anxiety. I’ve had times where the events in life lead me to anger, and make me angry with God for allowing these difficult times to happen. I’ve had days where I told myself that it was my fault – that if I truly believed in God, I wouldn’t let myself despair.
Somewhere along the line however, I learned not to be angry with God for events in my life, or let my struggle with mental illness separate us. Instead I try to pray my way through the pain, read the Bible, and find encouragement through His Word and His Love. These are some of the Scripture verses that inspire me.
