Blessed Are You

Updated on August 27, 2009

Matthew 5:11-12

"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

I know at times it's so hard to rejoice when being persecuted. We are put down a lot in this life time for our beliefs. For our faith, though we must stand. We must rejoice and be glad because even when we suffer we must remember our reward in heaven.

During the tears it can be so hard to raise your hands and praise God for persecution. We can remember though that Jesus didn't hide things from us, he warned us and he warned his disciples that persecution will come.

Jesus' followers are a light for others who do not know Him. So as we witness to others we will be put down for our beliefs so we are blessed when this happens. I have been persecuted by even family members at times, that's even harder to handle because you want your loved one's to know the love of Jesus. I pray for my loved one's to realize their need for Jesus, to realize that they have something missing in their lives. To realize that this something missing is our Lord, and nothing will be right until they know Him.

It is so hard at times to stand for what we believe in but in the long run blessings come our way when we hold onto the only thing that really matters, and that is our Lord Jesus.

Hi Betty... well this is a great and very timely word my dear friend.. and yes we are so much more blessed than we know.. and you know what? The Bible says that those who are persecuted are more blessed than anyone else.. because God is working in their lives and seeing them through that persecution.. and it is all glorifying to Him.. Paul was persecuted even though he was God's chosen apostle.. and although it's hard to go through.. He is with us all the way... thank you for this Betty.. hugs, Alf

Thank You for this beautiful hub!

I could not agree with you more!

When you love HIM you can rest on His promises!

Remember: "Yet in All these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the LOVE of GOD which is in CHRIST JESUS our LORD!" Romans 8

      Again I say REJOICE!

Pray for God to put people in your families lives that will share Jesus with them. I think most of the time our family will receive from someone else quicker than they will from us. They are still watching our example though and when they need prayer, they know who they can to go, that will pray for them. The joy of the Lord is our strength. Stay strong and trust God. He always has a way of working things out.
