Brexit in Bible Prophecy - Future of Europe Foretold!
Did the United Kingdom make the right decision in leaving the European Union? Elaborate in the comments section below.
A referendum was held on June 23, 2016 to determine whether or not the U.K. would remain in the European Union, and to everyone's surprise the leaves won by 52 percent! Immediately, the value of the pound was affected. It dropped to a low not seen in over thirty years! Global investors reacted frantically; and the global stock market became volatile. The New York stock Exchange plummeted 500 points. Recent news indicates that the market and the value of the pound is improving, now; but I'm not really here to talk about that. I'm here to talk about how this is a fulfillment of Bible prophecy!
In the book of Daniel, chapter 2, King Nebuchadnezzar, the ruler of an ancient empire called Babylon, had a vivid dream from God. It was an outline of Earth's history from his time up until the second coming of Jesus Christ up—until the end of the world. There was only one problem, he couldn't remember the details of the dream! In haste, he summoned all the magicians, astrologers, and practitioners of Occult arts to use their mysterious powers to discover the details of his dreams and to give him the interpretation of it. Unfortunately, all of their attempts were fruitless; and in fury King Nebuchadnezzar commanded all of his spiritual advisers to be killed!
Fortunately, there was another one of his advisers who heard about King Nebuchadnezzar's dilemma. He was a young Hebrew boy named Daniel; and he was not an Occult practitioner. He was a worshiper of the one true God of the Bible. Daniel begged the king to give him time to come up with the details and interpretation of his dream because his life was on the line! The king granted Daniel's request. Afterwards, Daniel confided in three of his Hebrew friends, and they prayed to God to reveal the mysteries of the king's dream to them. That very night, God honored their prayer; and the king's dream and interpretation were revealed to Daniel in a dream!
Daniel was hastily brought before King Nebuchadnezzar to describe his dream and meaning. Daniel told the king he had dreamed of a great statue with a head of gold, chest and arms of silver, belly and thighs of brass, legs of iron, and feet partly of clay and partly of iron. The king was stunned! That was the dream! Now the king was eager to hear the interpretation.
Daniel explained that the metals of the statue, from the head down, symbolized succeeding, world-ruling empires; and that Babylon was the head of gold. True to form, history tells us that there were only three world-ruling empires that succeeded Babylon (there were were other empires in existence throughout history, but they didn't succeed Babylon). Those empires were the Medo-Persian empire, the Greek Empire, and the Roman Empire.
Incidentally, the Roman Empire, when it fell in 476 AD, wasn't overcome by another empire. Instead, it was conquered by marauding barbarians which ended up dividing it into ten territories, just like the ten toes in the statue that King Nebuchadnezzar dreamed about! Those ten territories that the barbarians divided Rome up into ended up evolving into the European nations of today; and one significant verse in Daniel, chapter 2 foretold the instability of European unity. It's in verse 43. It states, "And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay." In other words, Europe would have no chance at lasting unity.
Through marriage, alliances, and treaties, men have vainly attempted to reunite the European continent. All throughout history, leaders such as Charlemagne, Napoleon, Kaiser Wilhelm, Mussolini, and Hitler have fought to build a new European empire but these words of Scripture have stopped them dead in their tracks, and it's no different with the European Union. Brexit is an example of this; and now other European countries are demanding a referendum to decide whether or not they will remain in the E.U. Some say that the E.U. is beginning to crumble. Many countries are not happy with its immigration policies, which have brought decreased safety and job instability as the result of floods of immigrants coming to Europe in search for a better life or to escape war.
