Bronze Serpent: The Judgement.

Updated on October 16, 2012

Number 21:4-9 KJV

Please read the Book of Numbers Chapter 21 Verses 4-9 in KJV

People can be quick to complain, whine, and get discouraged when they don't keep their eyes on Christ. When we get discouraged, it's easy to try do things our own way. I can tell you that when things goes wrong, I try to fix it myself first before I ask Him to for wisdom. When I do that, everything falls apart until I ask God for help. I would cry to Him and say, " LORD HELP ME!" And He would help me. Because of my stubbornness, I tend to to mess things up! Thank God I marry my wife who is full of common sense!

Anyway, back to the subject, when the people complained against Moses, they complained that they got no food, no drink, and still complained of their own "depression". So when their faith is no longer in God, fiery serpents killed them, but not all of them.

I can imagine myself talking to Moses like this, " MOSES, I am SORRY!! I have rebelled against God! PLEASE HELP ME DUDE! I'LL BE A GOOD BOY! MOSES, please tell GOD to take away those awful snakes!"

So Moses prayed and God told them to made a serpent made of brass (bronze) and whoever looked at the Bronzed Snake, is saved. Now why brass or bronze? The color is the picture of judgement. When Jesus was on the Cross, Fiery Judgement came upon Jesus and He took our punishment of our Sins and whoever believes in Him is saved from the fiery Hell.

It's best to keep our eyes on Jesus just as the people of Israel looked the the Brass Serpent and got saved by the bites of snakes. To me, the snakes are things of the world such as lust, adultery, anything that can turn our path away from God's plan. Whenever we go through trials in our life, we should turn to Him for wisdom, strength, and courage. God will never forsake us even though we forsake Him, Jesus paid the price to where God is with us forever. He's just waiting inside our hearts and smiling patiently for us to turn back to Him and into His loving arms.
