By His stripes we are healed. Only by His stripes!
He suffered so you and I would not have to suffer. He made it so God could give us mercy instead of the judgment and justice that all of us deserve. He was the complete and thorough substtitution our sin. It was not good for Him but it is indeed great for us. It is not anything that you. And I do or don't do it is about what He did. He saved us from ourselves and from our sin. He is the savior for all mankind for all time. He bore all sin for all time for now and forever. Once and for all for all time. It is an eternal salvation. That is the love of our Lord.
He was beaten beyond recognition. He was scourged and whipped. He was tortured and sacrificed. He suffered the excruciating crucifixion. He is the Lamb of God and by His stripes we are healed. Only by His stripes. You are not healed by any other. Jesus is Lord.
Just before giving up His Spirit Jesus cries out, "Tetestai" and bows His head in death. He has completed what He was sent to do. He has fulfilled the scriptures and has become the substitution that is necessary. He has justified all of us. He has saved each and every one of us. Every last one of us needs saving.
Tetelestai means it is finished. It implies something so very complete that while it is finished in the present it will continue well into the future to serve as completion for all time. Once again that is the love of our God to cover us thoroughly and completely. God says your sins I will remember no more. It is paid in full by Jesus. We cannot and do not save ourselves. We are not holy but merely human. He can and does save us forevermore.
Blood sacrifice is found throughout the Bible. It is necessary to atone for our great multitude of sin. In Exodus during the very first Passover it takes the blood of a perfect lamb. One that is without blemish. Jesus is the perfect Lamb for all of us as He and He alone is without sin. Jesus saves us from our sin and from all sin. Thanks be to our wonderful God. So on this Good Friday remember what He has done for you. He has given us the ultimate gift. He has given us our salvation and by His stripes we are healed. Please consider these verses:
1 Peter 2:24 Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness --- by whose stripes you were healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
Romans 5:10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.
Mark 8:31 And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. He spoke this word openly.
Psalm 121:7 The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.
Romans 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Isaiah 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.
God bless always.
