Can Our Minds Really Comprehend God?

Updated on September 9, 2012
Source

I found this question asked by Anishpat asking if our feeble minds could comprehend God.

I felt a deep desire to offer my opinion. I feel it is the Holy Spirit who is egging me to answer this. Before I type this, I had to pray.

I have read many of the simple answers on this question and I found no one has written a hub at this point. Many of those answers bothered my spirit and I felt that many are not taking the Word of God as the guide.

God/Jesus taught us to use the Holy Scriptures as our guide and path to understand Him. In 2nd Timothy 3:16 it says that All Scripture is God Breathed. That means God has given this Word so that we can understand Him.

Facts are facts and the Word of God is Truth and Fact.

I am about to share with you my opinion. This opinion comes from what I read in the Bible, but again, it is my opinion. I am not against having a debate or someone offering their opinion. All I ask is debate, not arguing or back-lashing. We are all just men and women and none of us have all the answers and none of us have it perfect; if we did......

Let's respect each other and let others have their opinions. That is all I ask here, just be civil.

I must first say, I agree with many of the other comments in that: No, none of us can comprehend God or His ways.

Our simple minds have no clue, but we do have a guide and a guidance counselor. The guide is the Bible; the counselor is the Holy Spirit, who is God.

There are several Bible verses that back me up on this opinion. How about we take a brief look at a few:

Isaiah 40:28 Have you not known? have you not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, faints not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

Romans 11:23 Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!

Psalm 145:3 Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.

All these scriptures tell us very clearly that we can not completely understand God's ways.

I Have wondered quite often why he hasn't just destroyed all of us. Look around at the hate, destruction and harm we do to what God created. It is probably a real good thing that we don't comprehend Him.

My Belief

I believe that when we truly do get it. When we gain some comprehension, God will take us from here.

i have often wondered about people who have passed on. Have they comprehended?

The key to all of this is to not worry so much about questions such as this, but to carry on the path our Holy Father wants us on.

I praise Him for giving second, third, fourth ...chances. Without them I would be useless.

No, is my answer; we cannot comprehend God. Only Jesus can; Only Jesus-who is God!

If we all follow His path, He has laid for us and listen to the "still, small voice" called the Holy Spirit, I believe that His perfection will come and all mankind can live in peace and harmony.

A lot of people think that if they go to church without understanding or listening to the word of God, they'd be saved. Its all about application, it should apply in our daily lives.
