Celebration! Life is Good With Friends

Updated on May 23, 2017

Kind of cool to see what a mustard seed creates.

Call me crazy but I used to swap Mustard's with my mom in exchange for her vinegar's. In about 2004 we had hundreds.

Lifelong Friends. OMG!

My editors wrote me this very nice note and it reminded me of the blessings of meeting so many quality people. Look at the line in here about friends. Maybe just a come on to keep me publishing, but I have the choice to see it in a positive light.

"Hi Ericdierker,

You have hit a pretty impressive milestone—your 5 Year Anniversary on HubPages! You've stuck with us through thick and thin. You've braved the writer's block, rode the traffic waves, and hopefully made some lifelong friends. You are truly a veteran Hubber. Happy Hubbiversary!

Fun fact: Couples traditionally exchange wood gifts on fifth anniversaries. Maybe today is the day for getting a gorgeous new writing desk!

Thanks,
HubPages"

I am definitely going to point out some wood to my young son and kind of suggest he give it to me for my anniversary. I am thinking some Italian Cypress we have and I will whittle it a bit and create a mock pen.

I only have about 800 articles stored here with about 1/3 being my Sunday Sermons. The capitalists have no reason to keep a guy with only about 300 parishioners. I do not think by peoples generate much income to HP. So in a sense they keep me in the spirit of patrons of the arts.

Can you imagine my first friend here being the famous and one and only Billybuc aka Bill Holland. Just almost 5 years ago he gave me an interview with him aligned with his HOW inspiration. And I am sure you can imagine my pride in him following and inspiring me to this day. I am all a gush with appreciating him.

And there are so many others. I sometimes walk in a very barren desert. I like it. 100 F is normal about 40 days a year. You get use to the dearth of animals and plant life at first. After much study and hikes you see life where you did not see it before and all the sudden the barren desert is a cornucopia of life teaming out of the harshest environment.

Is HP a desert? In some ways yes and yet you can find the rarest and most special of God's good life here.

I am bad for business but HP keeps me. I was banned for life from Forums. I reckon I am bad to the bone.

Not the warm and fuzziest of guys

And with age some things get better

There certainly are some things that get better with age. I really like to buy fruit that is green and let it ripen and eat it when it is just right. The best of all best is to watch it ripen on the tree or bush or vine and then snag it and gobble it down within seconds. It is my opinion that both green and red chili is best about the third day. And here is a fun one; The good times that I have had in the past get even better as time passes by.

For sure my marriage has gotten sweeter and sweeter with age. I can assure you that the sweater that I take out and only wear about 30 days a year and is 25 years old, just keeps getting more comfy. Some say that babies are the best but I have to admit, I like them best as rambunctious 4-12 year olds.

A lot of my friends are familiar with the Bible. There is an interesting story in there in the Book of Luke in chapter 13. The parable about the Fig tree. After three years it did not bear fruit. The owner said to cut it down as it was useless taking up the space of land. But the farmer asked for one more year to cultivate more and it was allowed. Normally it takes 4 years for a fig tree to bear fruit.

The parable has much in it but one thing is clear, God will give us time to bear fruit. And in fact I need more time to bear the fruit I am meant to bear. But fives years here is a great start.

I figure these guys no a lot about time

Well maybe I don't have much time left if I keep climbing this hill

Thank you

So many friends, thank you all.

Thanks much Tim. HP would really rather I have a bio with "credentials". Maybe I will give it a shot someday.

Congratulations Eric!!! Kudos not only for the Hubs written, but being open to inspiration fueling writing them. That definitely validates your opening line to your bio, "Writing is a passion."

Thank you M I have always appreciated our friendship going back years now. I apologize for not commenting on your Foot Sore piece. Your pictures threw my hypersensitivity into overdrive. But I did learn from it. Hiking is my passion. 9 miles today. And foot sores could cause real issues.

Dora you are very special to me. Not just a cheerleader but more of a mentor. You provide me with insight that I did not possess.. Gentle guidance on my walk. I think it safe to say that you have made me better and my family thanks you.

Lori, you make me very proud. Sometimes I get caught up with the seriousness of the day. When you write you carry away a weight. A lifting up. A transportation to what is important. That space of love. Thank you friend.

Congratulations, Eric. You've been one of my HubCircle friends, very faithful and encouraging with your comments. I hope that our friendship continues and that I prove to be one of your faithful friends also. Keep at it, Buddy and the very best to you going forward to the next five years.

Congrats on the big 5 Eric. 800 articles is amazing Eric. No small things. I've probably written 350 but taken down quite a few that weren't doing anything and poor quality. I never seem to get back to them to polish up. So my number is down to 200 or so hubs.

Everyone loves you here and we appreciate all the positivity and optimism you share. Blessings friend.

John it took about another year to hear the need for an alternative preacher man. I maybe would not have over a hundred sermons here without your inspiration and support. I tag along behind all you greats that mentor me and I get better. Thank you John.

Congratulations, Eric. Five years is an impressive milestone here. I remember when I first encountered you here at HubPages. You posted in a forum or Q and A, why was the Bible shelved under "fiction" (I can't remember if it was a bookstore or library). A quite valid question drew some heated responses, but I liked your style and we have been friends ever since.

Congratulations Ericdierker for completing five years writing here!

I completed five years just one month back and my story is no different from yours. I also write here purely for pleasure and not making much money. But HP has given me friends that are a treasure to me. And that includes you as a special friend. I enjoy reading your hubs and appreciate you for inspiring me whenever I feel a little low.

Although we haven't met but there is definitely a connection and I cherish this friendship.

Wish you all the best and keep writing and keep inspiring!

Hey, Eric, congratulations on 5 big ones! When I reached that milestone, I had been writing and publishing on Hub Pages that long! Like you, I probably don't bring in much income for the proprietors (I have only received a couple of payouts so far), but the people I have come to know and love are here cheering me on, just like we are for you today! Way to go!
