Change Your Name and Change Your Life!

Two years ago, I was going through a divorce. I wanted to change my last name, but to what? I didn’t want my maiden name. I didn’t know what I wanted, but I knew I definitely wanted to change it.

Numerology: Our Birth Date and Our Names are Our Vibration

I had always been interested in Numerology and the affects of numbers on our daily life. I have often used, “Modern Numerology”, by Morris C. Goodman to give me an overview of yearly cycles, 4 month cycles and daily cycles. The book helped me understand my name and the effect that each letter vibration has on us. I used it to help plan the names of my 4 children. Sanskrit, the language of the universe, recognizes name and form, that each letter or sound is a vibration. Putting letters together creates a specific vibration. Our name is our vibration that we radiate to others. If we change our name, we change our vibration.

Kabalarian Society of Canada

A friend had heard about the Kabalarian Society of Canada,, which had helped her friend choose a Balanced Name. I decided to look into it.

The Kabalarian Society first does a free analysis of all of your names: past, present, business name and nicknames. The Name Analysis helps you understand your purpose in life and whether these names have helped you or hurt you financially, emotionally, and physically. Your birth date determines your path in life and your purpose. Are you fulfilling that purpose and living up to your full potential? If not, what name will help you be successful and happy in life?

The Kabalarian Society was founded by Alfred J. Parker in the 1930’s. He used universal principles of language, logic and mathematics to show how important our names are and the major role they play in shaping our lives. The Kabalarians use a very in-depth, and profound system which is similar to numerology, but has much greater depth to it. This system helps us understand that the vibration of our name affects our success on every level: our health, finances, relationships, and our place in the universe.

My free Name Analysis was very accurate. It analyzed all names that I had ever used. It discussed my path based on my birth date: my path in life, my purpose in life, and minor lessons to be learned in this life. It discussed the effect my name has on my relationships, my career path, and gave me recommendations. The report suggested I either change the spelling of my first name which was “Larraine”, or change it to a different first name, and also choose a different last name.

I was intrigued. I decided to pay the fee which was only $185 and see what names they would come up with. At that time, my husband, Leagh, and I had just met a few weeks prior. Leagh, whose name was Leigh Feinberg, had always sworn that he would never change his name. After he read his Name Analysis, which was also very accurate, Leigh decided to go for it.

Changing Our Names

I was given a list of hundreds of last names to choose from. For my first name, I was told that Larraine was not good. If I wanted to keep the same first name, they suggested that I change the spelling to Lohrainne. I did not really want to change my first name to something new. Since I have always had to spell Larraine, I figured I might as well spell out Lohrainne, too.

I applied for a name change at the Courthouse. Each state is different and has different requirements for changing a name. Iowa requires a 30 day waiting period. After my name was legal, I then had to change my driver’s license, credit cards, library card, bank accounts, magazines, utilities, and passport.

My parents were not too happy about the name change. They had carefully chosen my name and it seemed a little insulting to choose something different. It took them many months to accept my new name.

Benefits of My Name Change

Since changing my name in September of 2010, my life has taken a new direction. My jewelry has become very creative causing my jewelry business to take off. My old name produced physical problems in the reproductive organs. Within a few days of changing my name, a yeast infection, which had persisted for a year, disappeared and has not come back. I have gone into a healing career. See the hub about Quantum Energetics Structured Therapy.

We love our new names!

      Hi Lohrainne,

Last year I order and received name changed recommendation report from the Kabalarians. Just like you I went through divorce I wanted to change my name from married name to something new.

As a balanced name the Kabalarian Society suggested to change the spelling of my first name Anna to Ahnnie. From the list of the suggested last names I picked one that I like and this was not that difficult for me. I also like the other first name from the list (Alisen) and having a little dilemma to decide which one is the right name for me. I don't have to worry about the reaction from my family if I decide to go with a very different name but wonder how my coworkers will adjust to my new chosen first name Alisen.

Can you share your opinion on that or perhaps there are some other readers with similar experiences or knowledge in numerology to help me to solve this problem.

All the best to you in your new life and marriage.

I don't know if there is a free name. I like the Kabalarians approach. They give you a lot of names to choose from. I understand if you cannot afford it, but I felt it was worth the help.

Mohan, go to and put in your name and birth date. It is a free name analysis. If you need to change your name in any way, they charge a fee to help you find a balanced name for success in life.

Thank you, Huyenchi. It is quite an interesting learning experience to change your name. They have a lot of lists of all different cultures and backgrounds. I checked out East Indian names, but I didn't find anything I liked.

Very interesting and perceptive comment, Terri. I like the Kabalarians' approach and philosophy to names. I had not remembered that Larraine was a 6. It is interesting that both ended up a 6. When you add Janell to it, the whole name becomes a 6 again. The Kabalarians suggested I use the initial K for my middle initial for a business name - so Lohrainne K Janell, which becomes an 8 - power, organization and success. They give you middle names to choose from if you want one that also end up as the right vibrancy, but the middle name is not part of the legal name. Thank you for taking the time to comment and your vote!

This is an interesting hub, but let's not forget that our cosmic blueprint is determined by our birth name as well as birthday. The name we are born with carries the energies we will carry through our entire life. Changes in name simply add other energies, lessen some, and/or add to those already present. The "recipe" for your original name of Larraine was 3,1,9,9,1,9,5,5 which translates to 6. The new "recipe" using Lohrainne is 3,6,8,9,1,9,5,5,5 (still a 6). The original has triple humanitarian energies, double independence, as well as double that of change and freedom. You've simply added the energy of power and authority (8) and increased that of change and freedom. You've also added more 6 energy (the caretaker, provider). While changing names can bring additional energies into play for us during the time we use those names, the original blueprint can't be negated.

Numerology is complex. There are many factors which influence the energies we are operating under such as our address and age. And then we also have to consider that number energies have both positive and negative vibrations, so while we may think we are adding good energy, if we operate under the lower vibrations of the numbers, we may be opening ourselves to unfamiliar territories. It's very important that we understand the nature of all numbers before committing ourselves to permanent changes. Voted interesting!

What an interesting hub. I have read a little about numerology but have not gotten deeply into it. I like my name so I don't know if I would change it, however, all power to you if it has helped you and congratulations on your marriage and have a happy life!

Thank you, Karen! Thank you for stopping by and reading my Hub. I live in a town where a lot of people have changed their name, especially to an East Indian name, so it is not unusual to have a new first name. My spelling of my first name is very different. I always had to spell it when it was Larraine, but now I really have to make sure to spell it out to people. I like the name!

Lohrainne, I love this hub - I had a similar experience in 1996 when I got divorced - I had my name changed - I took my maiden name back and changed my first name to the spiritual name given to me by Amma. It has changed my life and I have never looked back or regretted it.
