Christ Reborn

Updated on September 30, 2015

Someone brought up an interesting topic. He was completely convinced Jesus was born only 2000 years ago and not before and that his death and sacrifice wasn’t as huge as its put out to be. “Everyone dies one way or another right?” So I showed him that He has actually been around far longer than even the universe and HIS death was more than just any other death.

1 In the beginning the Word already existed; the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 From the very beginning the Word was with God. 3 Through him God made all things; not one thing in all creation was made without him. John 1:1-3

It says simply that the Word (Jesus) already existed with God and the Word was God. God begot (birthed/fathered) Jesus. He did not create Jesus or the Word would not be God. If we put it in a more proper translation the first verse would read.

In the beginning Jesus already existed; Jesus was with God and was born of God.

The word “begot” throughout the bible is translated as “born of/fathered”. God created the universe and everything in it, but he did not create Jesus, he begot Jesus so Jesus was God.

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Begot can be used in the term “fathered” or “breed”. So Jesus was born of God in the beginning before God created the universe and everything in it and we know this because God through Jesus created everything.

Jesus was then born again on Earth as a human to a virgin. He gave up his immortality and glorious life in Heaven to come walk the Earth as a man. Imagine, He gave up everything he had to walk the ground in human form to be sacrificed for our sins. He died for the whole world so that we might be with God.

17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3:17

Would you give up Heaven to come to Earth to be sacrificed? In a since would you give up everything you have right now as you sit and read this to be tortured and crucified to save the world? This truth that Jesus was here before even the universe was created makes his sacrifice for the world even more grand and amazing.

10 but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. 2 Tim 1:10

Jesus was after three days resurrected by God in the process conquering death, allowing all to live in his light and glory and holiness.

To sum it up Jesus was born of God the Father before all else, sent to Earth to be born again has a man, crucified as a sacrifice for all the world, then resurrected by God destroying death and bring eternal life.
