Christ Alone .... Is the Cornerstone

Updated on June 1, 2018

Cornerstone is a word which defines and denotes foundation and base. We need structure and stability in our daily lives. We need it badly and often depend on structure and balance. God provides that structure and stability through our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. He is the ultimate cornerstone. Who and or what is the cornerstone foundation of your life? Cornerstone is defined as a stone that forms the base of a corner of a building joining two walls together. Another definition is as an important quality or feature on which a particular thing depends or is based.

Also, the foundation stone concept is based on the first set stone in the construction phase of a masonry foundation. It is vital since all of the other accompanying stones will be set in relation and reference to this stone, in essence determining the position of the entire structure.

So then what is it that becomes your bedrock or your cornerstone? In other words where do you derive your stability from? This must in fact depend on your faith. For in your faith you will find all that you need for your earthly as well as eternal survival. Do not lean on you but rather lean on Him. He will hold you up and He will raise you up in times of tribulation and storm. God tells us that His grace is sufficient. Once your belief is evident that someone is there for you for now and forever. It is rock solid. That is the love of our God. It is rock solid. He is our cornerstone and our salvation. He tells us to abide in Him and He will abide in us. Jesus loves you and that is certain. Love Him with everything that you are and it will make the biggest difference in your life. Indeed, the only way to the Father is through the Son. Get close to God and you will get your cornerstone. He is all that we ever need.

Here are some verses on cornerstone:

Luke 20:17 Then He looked at them and said, "What then is that is written: The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone."

Psalm 118:22 The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.

Ephesians 2:20 Having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone.

1 Peter 2:7 A chief cornerstone, elect, precious, and He who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame.

Psalm 27:1 The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

God bless always.
