Was Jesus Enthroned King in 1914 C.e as Jehovah's Witnesses Teach?
Jesus The King Of God's Kingdom
Was Christ Really Made King In Year 1914?
In fact, was Jesus really made king in heaven on 1914?
Jehovah;s Witnesses teaches from the bible that Jesus Christ was enthroned in heaven as king of God's kingdom in 1914. Many do not understand this bible teaching. Some think its a mystery. But through this article I will prove to you that Christ enthronement in 1914 is a biblical fact, a sacred secret of God not a falsehood nor mystery.
This is the continuation of the article titled The end times, did it began in 1914 C.e as Jehovah's witnesses teach? (please read first)
The following are the main points already considered.
- The last days of any system of things (ages) is always before the destruction or the end of that system.
- The first century Christians lived in the last days of Jerusalem's destruction which evidently began in 33 C.E (Joel 2:28-32. Acts 2:17)
- Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, where he made mention of "in the last days" while the last days of Jerusalem destruction had already begone, making his word to have a future implications. If he was not referring to a future last days, he should have said 'in this last days' instead of "in the last days" (2 Tim 3:1)
- The length of the "last days" of this our system of things, corresponds to the length of the 'short period of time' left for Devil before he will be made inactive. Thus both started and will end at the same time period-Armageddon (Rev 12:9, 10, 12. 16:14-16)
- To know when the "last days" or end time started, we have to first know when Satan was cast down to the earth and restricted from having access to heaven, thus the beginning of the short period of time.
- Satan and his demons were hurled down to the earth at the same time period God's kingdom (the heavenly ruler ship) and the authority of his Christ ( Christ's enthronement) went into effect, thus the start of the Satan's short period of time.
Thus the "last days" began when Christ's authority as the king of God's kingdom in heaven began, that is when he was enthrone by God as the rightful king of that kingdom even as the angel have stated to merry in Luke 1:32-4.
Just as I said in that first article, I repeat again that am going to present to you the bible chronological calculation used by Jehovah's witnesses to arrive in year 1914 as the year Christ became king.
Second, I will then discourse the matter purely from the bible discarding any historic or chronological date, in other to prove to you that actually there is a pivotal, definite date in the bible when Chris was enthroned in heaven.
At the end you will be left with just two options; Either you are convinced that 1914 is scriptural as the date Christ was enthroned, or you tell us when it was. No question.
Prophecies Pointing To Christ Ruler ship
Adam sinned, God promised a deliverer who will come to undo the effect of Adamic sin. (Genes 3:15)
He will come through the linage of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Genes 22:18: Numb 24:17,18: genes 17:19. Rom 9:7)
He will be a descendant of king David and will finally rule on the throne representing David in heaven forever- ps 89:3,4. Isai 9:6-9. Ps 72.
But when will he be given this kingship? The vision of king Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 4 contains the answer.
The vision of the immense tree involves Christ and when he will be given the kingdom of the world. The tree represents the SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD OVER THE EARTH as symbolized by the kingship of David in Israel.
But when God allowed Nebuchadnezzar to destroy Jerusalem, the ruling power now rest on Nebuchadnezzar, but in the same vision, God promised that he is going to give the ruler ship to someone else who will represent him forever. Read Dan 4:17.
It Says: "To the intent that people living may know that the most high is RULER in the kingdom of mankind and.....he gives and set up over it the LOWLIEST ONE OF MANKIND".
So finally, God will set up over his kingdom not Nebuchadnezzar but the lowliest one of mankind- Christ. But when?
All the king who ruled in Judah of Jerusalem represents God and his ruler ship according to 2king 24:17. But God stopped choosing human king starting from the ruler ship of Zedekiah the last human king on David throne, God allowed Babylonians to conquer Israel, from that year on, there were no human king representing God again, until the legal one or Shiloh comes.
When Did Shiloh Come?
The same vision of Nebuchadnezzar hold the answer,.
God said that the tree will be cut down but it root will remain bond or restricted to grow. Because God used Nebuchadnezzar to destroyed the kingship of David in Israel, that is why the initial fulfillment of this prophecy applied to him. Thus, God said "LET SEVEN (7) TIMES PASS OVER IT".( Dan 4:16).
This "seven times" in case of Nebuchadnezzar represents just seven years of which his kingdom was interrupted, but since Nebuchadnezzar is not the lowliest one of which God promise he will give the kingdom of the world in verse 17, so the seven times is prophetic regarding when Christ will be given the kingdom after the seven times of gentile's domination of Davidic kind ship ends.
We will have to learn how long this prophetic seven times is, when it begone and ended? When it ended was when Christ was enthroned as the legal one to rule on the throne of David forever.
Major Point Already Made
Before going ahead, let us summarize the major points already discoursed.
1. After Adamic sin, God promised a deliverer who will latter rule and undo all the effect of sin.
2. To understand when he will be given the kingship, we must understand Daniel 4. In that prophetic vision, God reiterated that he will set up the promised one over the kingdom of the world.
3. The tree in that vision represents God's eternal sovereignty over the earth which the kings in Israel symbolized. When God allowed Nebuchadnezzar to destroy Jerusalem, that world power was conferred on him, that is why the initial fulfillment applied to him.
4. After a prophetic Seven (7) Times passed, God will restore the ruler ship represented by the root of the tree. In the case of Nebuchadnezzar, it was a literal seven years but in the case of the promised one, the number is prophetic.
5. To know the year the promised one was given the kingdom by God, we have to know how long the Seven times is, when it began and when it ended.
When Did The Seven Times Began?
The ruler ship in Israel, the means God used in punishing other nations was put to a stop when God allowed Nebuchadnezzar to destroyed Jerusalem. That was the year the tree in the vision regarding the throne of David was cut down. God now decree that no more human king on that throne until the promised one, Shiloh comes.
Read Ezekiel 21:25-7.
It Says " a ruin, a ruin, a ruin i shall make it (the kingship in line of David), it will certainly becomes no one's until Shiloh comes, and i must give it to him". (NWT)
The seven times began when Nebuchadnezzar destroyed Israel and took them to Babylon for seventy years as decreed by Jehovah. And after the seventy years, they will return says Jerem29:10. and Dan 9:2.
History tells us that the Jews returned from Babylon on 537 B.C. That means seventy years back is on 607 B.C-that was the year Nebuchadnezzar destroyed the kingship of David in Israel. So that marks the beginning of the seven times that will pass before the kingship of David will be restored.
Note: Secular historian disagree on 607 being as being the year Jerusalem was destroy, instead putting it on 587 B.C. a 20 years different. Making the 70 years in Jerem. 29:10 a 50 years instead of 70.
But the year 607 is calculated directly from the bible chronology ( by summing the life age of bible character from Adam till the destruction of Jerusalem) and going with 70 years of Israel's exile to Babylon as the bible directly says, So either the bible is wrong or the historians are wrong. But the bible can't be wrong, it is in harmony with accurate history.
So starting from 607 B.C, how long is the seven times?
Calculating The Prophetic Times
THE bible shows that in counting prophetic times, a day is represented by a year. (Ezek 4:6. Num 14:34-Read). So how many days are in seven times or seven years?
Rev 11:2,3 shows that 42 months i.e 3 1/2 years ( three and half years) is equal to 1,260 days. Therefore seven (7) times, i.e 84 months will equal to twice 1,260 days. Which is 1,260 multiply by 2 =2,520 days.
Applying the principle of "a day for a year" rule. 2,520 days will be 2,520 years.
So when God said, "let seven times pass" at Dan 4:16, he meant let 2,520 years pass before Shiloh will be given the throne of David. This means that the gentiles will dominate the ruler ship in line of king David till 2,520 years is passed.
Jesus Christ himself confirmed this at Luke 21:24, Jesus said: “Jerusalem will be trampled on by the nations until the appointed times of the nations [“the times of the Gentiles,” King James Version] are fulfilled".
Note the phrase "the appointed time of the nations".
This mean that by the time Jesus was on earth, the Gentiles were still holding on, on the ruler ship and the seven times has not ended yet. This is true considering that the world power at that time was not the Jews but the Romans, a Gentile nation. That is why Jesus apostles asked him:
"Lord are you restoring the kingdom to Israel at this time?",
The answer Jesus gave them proved that he was fully aware of Daniel's prophecy regarding the 'seven times'. (Read Acts 1:6-8) This domination of the gentiles began with Nebuchadnezzar in 607 B.C.E. So counting backward, this is the calculation;
From 607 B.C.E minus 606yrs brings us to 1 B.C.E.
Note: Before the coming of Christ, years were minus instead of adding, (B.C.E is before the common era and C.E is common era. Some call it before Christ era and Christ era)
This means that we have only misused 606yrs from 2,520yr, (seven times) remains 1,914 years.
Then from 1 B.C.E to 1 C.E= 1year, remain 1,913yearrs. ( Since there is no zero year, you cannot start from 0 to count but one. So 1 B.C.E to 1 C.E is 1 year)
Then from 1 C.E + 1,913yrs= 1,914 C.E.
I.e 606+1+1,913 yrs=2,520 years.
Therefore, the Seven times of Daniel's prophecy ends on near October 1914 C.E, Christ the king was enthroned in heaven above. The same time period the world war 1 began.
That is exactly the year Satan and his demons was cast out of heaven and down on earth by Christ and that marked the beginning of the "last days".
If you disagree with Jehovah's Witnesses on the above chronology, don't worry.
As I have earlier promised, I am going to discourse the date of Christ enthronement from another direction, without mentioning any historic or chronological date so that you will know that there is a definite date that the bible indicate Christ was enthroned after his ascension even as we have examined.
At the end of the discussion that will now follow, you will be left on a stage to either agree on the chronology regarding 1914 or you tell us when it was.
Do you agree or disagree on the above biblical chronology?
No Chronology, When Did Christ Ruler ship Began?
Without going through any chronology, history and calculations about the seven times of Daniel prophecy, we can still know the time period that "seven times" of Daniel prophecy came to an end. How? By looking into the pages of the bible direct.
Let us go back to some scriptural verses we have mentioned earlier.
First. Before Jesus birth, the angel Gabriel emphasis that 'God will give him the throne of David his father'. Luke 1:32-4.
We only need to ask; was the kingdom given to Christ while he was on earth? ( about 2 or 4 C.E to 33 C.E)
We surely no the answer is No, considering the question his disciples asked him at Acts 1:6. So we have to look for the answer in another time period.
Was the kingdom given to him after his resurrection, immediately he ascended to heaven? (from 33-70 C.E) The answer is still No. Why? We must now reason from the scriptures.
The prophecy of Daniel regarding the seventy weeks involving the Messiah's appearance and being cut off shows that the Messiah will, "keep the covenant...in force for one week" even though he will be cut off in the half of that week. Dan. 9:27. (one week is seven 7yrs when counted a week for a year, a week for a year, and half of the week is three and half years)
Jesus was 30 years when he began his ministry in the fall of 29 C.E (Luke 4:23) and he served for only three and half years before his death in 33 C.E. But he kept the covenant* in force for the Jews till the end of the one week, that is about 36 C.E, after that year God no longer accept animal sacrifice on the bases of the old covenant, since Jesus has offered a better sacrifice.
Thus, till 70 C.E when the seventy weeks ended, the Davidic throne was not given to Christ even as he ascended. You ask why?
* The covenant Jesus kept in force for the Jews till the end of the week is the animal sacrifice made by the Jews for their sins. Since Christ gave his life for mankind sins such sacrifice was no longer acceptable to God, so it ended at the end of the seventy weeks.
Sit At My Right Hand Until....
Since God did not give Jesus the kingdom immediately he ascended, what role then did Jesus started playing from year 33 C.E when he ascended? In fact, how did we know that God did not gave Jesus the ruler ship immediately he ascended?
The answer can be seen in Psalms 110:1, a prophecy regarding the Messiah. As he ascended, Yahweh gave him a role;
" sit at my right hand until I place your enemies as a stool to your feet".
How do we know when this prophecy began to fulfill, after or before Christ ascension?
Apostle Peter in Acts 2:31,32 shows that it was at Jesus' ascension on 33 C.E that this prophecy began to have its fulfillment. But you may ask: what is this 'siting at God's right hand if it is not to rule the world?
It is not a literal siting at God's side but a role to play. what is this role? Is it that of ruling as the king over the heaven and earth? No!
It was not yet time at that point. How do we know?
Acts 2:33 tells us what the role is when it says that 'Christ received the promised holy spirit...he poured to his disciples'. Thus at his ascension, Jesus was keenly interested in helping his newly founded congregation on earth, and that is the role God granted him the authority to begin taking care of as can be seen in Colossians 1:13, 18, not ruling as king of the heaven and earth.
As can be seen in Psalm 110:1, Jesus is to sit "until"......
What does that denote? That after the period represented by "until" ends, and by then his enemies (Satan and the demons) will have been cast out of heaven, then Jesus will be granted another role in conjunction with the one he is playing already, isn't it?
But peter only quoted verse one of Psalm 110 about the role Jesus began playing in heaven from 33 C.E but he left open the second role.
So what will happen as the period marked by "UNTIL" ends? Let us see.
"GO, Rule In The Midst Of Your Enemies"
As the period represented by "until" ends, Satan and his demons were foot-stool to Christ's feet as they were cast out of heaven to the earth. See Isai 66:1 and Rev 12:9.
Then comes the command:
"Go, rule in the midst of your enemies" (Satan, the demons and Human rulers) Psalm 110:2
Then comes the voices;
"now have come...the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ". Rev 12:10 (see the first article in this series to learn who have the voices)
Thus, as can be seen from Psalms 110:1,2, it is after the period of time represented by "until" ended was Christ granted the authority or power to rule as king, the legal one or Shiloh spoken by Daniel Prophecy in chapter 4:17 who is 'set up' at the end of the "seven times".
Thus the 7 times of Daniel 4:17 is equal to the time period marked by until. So when did the time "until" ended?
Are Jehovah's Witnesses Wrong about 1914 C.e?
Now we ask; When did the period of time marked by "until" from 33 C.E when Jesus ascended to heaven and was told by God to sit at his right hand till the command "Go rule in the midst of your enemies" bring us to in the streams of time?
In accord with all the prophecies considered, the end of the "until" from 33 C,E will still bring us to the end of the "seven times" or 2,520 years of Daniel prophecy (from Jerusalem's destruction) the end of the Gentile's time or domination over the ruler ship of David when Shiloh will take over.
If you disagree that 1914 is the end of the seven Gentile's time from Jerusalem destruction in 607 CB.C.E, please calculate the length of the "UNTIL" from 33 C.E and tell us WHEN it will bring you to in the stream of time, then that is exactly when Christ was enthroned, Satan cast down, thus the beginning of the "last days of this our present system of things.
But if you cannot calculate the length of the time period marked by until... then you have no reason to argue or disagree with what Jehovah's witnesses about 1914 as the year Christ was enthroned.
Thus, the end of the world is very closer than you ever think as long as Christ has been enthroned in the heavenly kingdom of God, Satan cast to the earth, this mean the end is at hand.
There are historic evidences that really proves that 1914 was exactly the year the Gentile's time ended and the ruler ship of the world was taken away from them as it was taken away from Nebuchadnezzar, and given to Christ.
Yes, I know the question on your mind.
If the ruler ship of the world had been taken away from the Gentiles and given to Christ, why are the Gentiles still governing the world till now?
