Traditional family influence

Many people that practice witchcraft are actually following in the footsteps of family members or close relatives. In these cases is a family affair, and it's all they know. There are dozens of different types of schools of mystery and mysticism that have colored their craft. Nowadays with the help of technology and the easy access to information, other practices will be added to the family tradition .

That is somewhat well received, just because the pursue of knowledge is getting greater the more the new generation is exposed to other ways to practice the old religions. And the truth is, this ensures the voice of other adepts is heard and respected.

Cocktail of beliefs

Is rather fascinating to try to categorize an individual's belief systems, specially if the person doesn't have an accurate point of reference. To this day, the populous, in general is not really that receptive to learn about other religions or even alternative lifestyles that differ from their own. That said, this includes their own roots and religious beliefs. This fear based mentality, has spawned invisible resistance to even discuss the similarities, differences and the imminent coexisting of hundreds of faith based practices outside of the three monotheistic religions practiced in the United States.

New comers: First generation witch

These demographics are almost impossible to identify, because it takes years for a person who is serious about pursuing the magical arts to feel free to call themselves witches. In some cases, they nust stay anonymous. In the closet, sort of speak.

If we say that this bappens in cycles, is partially true. There are external influences, and internal needs that pave the way to search the witch within.

Living in the open

Do you practice your chosen religion openly?

See results

Why the secrecy?

Let's pretend that there is no prejudice against other faiths that haven't branched out of Christianity. Or that Hollywood has done a dark, or in some cases, comical impersonation of the witch. In some states, this would be social suicide.

In a smaller scale, many would be practitioners, are conflicted by their families beliefs and their newfound interests in the occult. That's fine. Actually, is healthy. To have an inquisitive mind is the catalyst to expand knowledge. Thanks to the internet, this curiosity can be satisfied with the click of the mouse. Knowledge is power after all.

Why is so important to come out of the broom closet?

First of all, this is the United States of America. Is your constitutional right to practice your religion freely.

Second, your first responsibility is to be true to yourself. Making yourself miserable, is not serving anyone. Living a lie is only going to create more problems.

Thirdly, this is part of who you are. Anyone that rejects you is making an uninformed decision and in the end, that's on them.

Special circumstances

Of course, there are special circumstances that some people have to take into consideration if those around you are fundamentalist. Your safety comes first. Is tragic, but in some instances is a matter of life or death.

But, this raises the question, Is this a safe environment for me in the first place?

Be true to yourself darling!

To summarize all of this, learn all you can from all walks of faith. Evolve and help others do so, love yourself enough to live in the open. And most of all, never compromised your integrity for the sake of fear. Blessed be.

Is more about expecting a reward for doing nothing. Like with any belief system, faith takes you to take action. That when the reaping occur.
