Create in me a clean heart: A poem of repentance.

Updated on March 10, 2016

I have a passion for life, a love for humanitarian causes, a zeal for the Creator, and an obsession for understanding human nature.

Source

I'll never forget the day Oh Lord, when I called out your name.

I surrendered all my burdens to you, I just couldn't stand the pain.

A rebellious child, like the prodigal son, I chose my own way.

But then I had to return to you, in all my naked shame.

I expected to feel your wrath oh Lord, for you are a consuming fire.

All heaven rejoiced, because I was home, true mercy was your only desire.

And although you never said a word I knew your eyes could see.

A broken heart, a weary soul, a spirit that's heavy.

Source

Your Grace...

If I may boldly approach the throne.

I'm the first of many but I"m not alone.

Lord, would you take my broken heart.

And then, favor me with a brand new start.

Create in me a clean heart, oh Lord, and this time, I'll be sure.

To protect my heart with diligence, this time, I'll keep it pure.

I try so hard to be good oh Lord, and though you've set me free.

These emotions returned...

Bitterness

Anger

They just won't let me be.

Giving out new hearts Oh Lord, is something you don't do.

But I know you can, if it's your will, for nothing's too hard for you.

I tried to do this on my own but found its just too hard.

I declare it would be easier Lord if you'd just create in me, a clean heart.

The inspiration behind the poem.

This poem was inspired by a comment my good friend, Word55 left on one of my hubs ( The heart of a woman) He said that poem reminded him of psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart.

Word55 planted the seeds, and they were watered through the night. When I awoke the next morning this poem was in my heart.

If you live long enough you will experience a broken heart. A death, failed relationship, failed marriage and so on. And though you recover eventually, those painful experience's will scar the heart.

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

— Proverbs 4:23

Human Nature and The Condition of Man.

How precious is the heart? The heart has the ability to experience love, joy, and peace. Unfortunately, if it is not protected or cherished, the heart also has the ability to experience pain, anger, and bitterness.

Just recently, one of my relatives came over with his baby. She was all over the place, very inquisitive, and full of joy. To see the innocence in her little eyes and, the pure love she has for her father was priceless. How I wish she could stay that way. I would give up everything to preserve that perfect heart for her.

One of my favorite proverbs-4:23: To protect the heart with all diligence, for out of it springs the issues of life. The state of man's heart is mentioned in the bible many times. It's a great concern of God's because, He searches the heart of man and we know what comes out the mouth came from the heart

How many of us wish that a clean heart could be re-created in us? I'm sure you all agree with me, if you got a second chance, you would protect it with all diligence.

This beautiful song by Donnie McClurkin is a perfect addition to this hub. Please listen I'm sure you will enjoy it.

The state of the heart.

Do you sometimes wish the Lord would create in you a new heart?

Thank you Peg. For your kind words; we all become weary in our race in this life and sometimes we just need the Lord to check it and make sure we keep it right.

Hey Missy, thank you so much. Trying hard to be "good" is not very hard but, there are so many obstacles that challenge the spirit, it seems on a daily basis. Sometimes I feel it would be easier if God gave me a new heart and then all the things that damaged it in the first place would not exist. Thanks for the vote up!

I absolutely loved this poem Dana. I think we have all at one time or the other prayed for a new heart or a new focus to get us on the right track.

I felt every emotion in this and it moved me deeply. :)

Jodah, you know if I don't have my faith I have nothing. I am sure the Lord is listening. He knows that regardless of my struggles, my worship for Him is as pure as the driven snow. Thank you for your words of wisdom. And yes, I am grateful to Word, who didn't have a clue the Lord worked through Him and touched my heart. I'm sure he was shocked and hopefully pleased; and how ironic that he was the first to read. Stay blessed my friend, you know how much I appreciate your continued support.

Faith, I have definitely come along way from watching my mouth. When the Lord touched my heart and, I became a recipient of His mercy, I understood the meaning of pure love. I love to share what He has brought me through. My desire is to spread the message that no matter what you've gone through, you always have a friend in Jesus. Yes, Word's comment was a blessing. Being a solider himself, he is always on time with the right words to say. All blessings to you.

Oh, this is beautifully expressed here, dear Dana! I, too, pray Psalm 51:10 in my prayers. I do love the other Psalm too about guarding our hearts.

I am mindful that what is coming out of our mouth, actually comes from our heart. So if what is coming out is not pleasant, then we must do a heart check for sure.

I thoroughly enjoyed your poem. I am glad Word's wonderful comment to you inspired this wonderful hub.

      Up ++++ and away

      God bless you
